StankFaust Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 I recently purchased the Bodenplatte pack on sale as I've been very hapy with BoS and BoK which I had purchased previously. while I am really impressed with the positioning of the pilot in the FW190 and 109's. However, Im a little perplexed at how far back I am in the seat of my p-51. It looks like I need 5 foot arms to reach the dash. I read that Head position controls dont work in VR, that you need to boot up in 2d, make the adjustments and then save. So when I open it in 2d, the head poition is fine, if not a little close? I can move forward and back so it feels like what's presented is in 'the center' of available movement, but do I really need to mash my face against the dash in 2d to get my head to be somewhat centered in 3d for this plane? Thanks for your help
Mtnbiker1998 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 the save snap view command is what you want. Move your head where you want it to be and press F10. it will save it as the new default. fwiw though, American cockpits are also much roomier than 109s and 190s.
StankFaust Posted November 3, 2021 Author Posted November 3, 2021 I guess what Im trying to say is that there is nothing to save. The view in 2d looks correct(er), or at least not nearly as far back as what I get in VR. I'll try just moving it forward a bunch more in 2d & saving it then see what that does to head placement in VR

No more super far back default.
StankFaust Posted November 3, 2021 Author Posted November 3, 2021 That's what I ended up doing. in 2d I moved forward until it stopped then backed up a keystroke. In 2d, this has your face plastered up against the aiming reticle and looks completely rediculous. I saved it anyway and booted in VR and am happy with the head placement over all. it defintely brought it closer. Anyway, thanks for the help. The screwed up view in 2d to get a good view in VR was throwing me off.
no_brain Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) There's no need to go back to 2d mode to make adjustments. Here's my short step-by-step: have an easily accessible key bound to "Default VR View" under pilot head controls get in your normal comfortable playing position irregardless of where your view is in the cockpit press your Default VR View keybind to set your head position in the real world as "zero" move your head within the cockpit to where you want your default view to be with respect to the virtual cockpit press f10 relax back to your comfortable playing position which should now be centered in the cockpit I use the Default VR View keybind every time I load in since I cant be bothered to be looking straight forward as the game launches. Do this while the game is running, not paused. Edited November 5, 2021 by minivan
kestrel79 Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 All I do is just move my head back a little and keep looking straight, then push the reset VR view button mapped to my joystick and the default view gets me a little closer to what feels realistic to me, plus I can read the gauges better. 1
