Guest deleted@50488 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 (edited) Of the many flight simulators and their versions I have used I never found one that could be used with historically correct data for the scenery, navigation techniques, and all activities related to flying non combat / military aircraft during the Golden Age of Aviation, on the first half of the last century. IL2 Great Battles with it's unique flight and overall physics modeling, and the quality of the scenery, weather rendering and even some weather effects could become an interesting platform for the simulation of commercial flights in the early 20s, 30s--- up to the 50s of the 20th Century. Proper navigation aids used by that time could be reproduced and make the task of flying oe of those aircraft under adverse weather conditions and longer distances, specially accross areas with no available landing sites, really challenging. SInce none of the civil / general flight simulation platforms currently available offer such an option, a tittle like this could probably be received with enhusiasm by the simmer community. jaguar Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Nice idea! If I recall correcly, radio aids were limited to Non-Directional Beacons, Lorenz blind approach systems on major airports and low frequency radio ranges. I guess other visual aids were different for each country. During WW2 low frequency radio ranges became widespread for use by allied air transport organizations.
