AI Attacks nearest random bridge

The AI just attacks the nearest bridge.  The bridge is not anywhere near the target area or even on the flight path.  The AI takes off from the runway, completely ignores waypoints, and hits the bridge.

Sounds like an interesting problem, so I loaded the mission in the editor to  analyse it. However...

It's one huge mess and not really human-readable. There's a gazillion different objects and a multitude of that amount of MCU links. I gather this mission was generated by PWCG? Are you sure PWCG didn't somehow mess up?

Could you signify at least which AI takes off from what runway, which bridge they attack and which targets and waypoints they miss?

If you fly the mission on autopilot it is pretty clear what is happening.  The AI abandons the mission path (waypoints set to medium priority) and simply wanders off and drops bombs on a bridge.

The bridge does have an entity and is an enemy bridge, so it is a viable target.  However, with a WP priority of medium and said bridge nowhere near the flight path, why is the AI going for it?

I did just push a fix in PWCG 13.4.2 where I restrict the number of structures with entities more severely.  However, I really don't want to do that as it prevents pilots from AI flights from being credited with destroyed structures.  Not that big of a deal really, but I'm pretty sure there is some undesirable AI behavior in there somewhere, so it doesn't hurt to post it.

Y'know Pat, last time I had a "bridge attack" mission on Il-2, I flew out with my flight of four Il-2s only to discover literally every single bridge in the AoE was already destroyed. I was pretty confused at the time, but I think it's interesting you have a similar problem; there seems to be something in PWCG that makes bridges a tempting target for the AI.

It's the fact they they are given an entity and a owning nation.  The last PWCG release eliminated that for all but player targets.  My complaint in this thread is that just because a bridge has an entity and a side - i.e. it is a valid target - doesn't mean that the AI should go for it when they are flying a route at medium priority.

Not a mission editor guy (thanks to awesome programs like yours, I don't have to be lol) But is the same true of other "valid targets?" i.e. would AI do the same for a tank or truck it spotted? it'd be weird if this was an issue exclusive to bridges, I'd say thats definitely a bug.

They do not.  The bridge thing is totally weird.  Immediately after takeoff the flight hits the first WP a few KM past the runway and then goes straight for a bridge. It's not even close to the flight path never mind close to any target area.
