Magpie - FidelityFX for any monitor game, non VR

As VR users have excellent AMD tool FSR (FidelityFX) for improving picture or improving of performance, finally that same tool is available for monitor players too.

 

 

It is easy, and it works on all graphic cards.

1) go to https://github.com/Blinue/Magpie/releases

2) open "Assets", and then download Magpie....zip

3) unzip somewhere (does not matter).

4) start Magpie.exe. Set sharpness slider to 80% (or as needed), and method "GraphicCapture"

5) start your game in windowed mode (set window resolution in startup.cfg):

 

a) for window resolution less then native monitor resolution; that is for better fps, picture will be slightly worst

b) for window resolution bigger then native monitor resolution; that will slightly reduce fps, but picture will be eye candy. Check spotting with it!

 

When game starts (must be in focus), just press "ALT+F11" - that will activate Magpie in game (it will be full screen!).

Enjoy.

 

What that does to game? For performance it can use slightly lower resolution and supersample it to native monitor resolution with excellent AMD algorythm.

If you need better picture, you will render game in bigger resolution and then Magpie will undersample it to fit your monitor.

It is or better performance, or better picture, you can´t have booth.

I just tried it to see that it works, do not ask me much for details, I am 100% VR player

 

PS: When choosing window resolution, try not to change native aspect ratio of your monitor. The best is to try with multiplicator, i.E hor 0.8*1920 and vertical 0.8*1080.

For VR we use multiplication from 0.7 to 1.5, check what is best for you.
