Rudder authority ruined in last update.

Posted

Whatever you guys did it completely decimated the camel. It's a useless plane now. This has to be a bug, or an accident. There's no way this is accurate and I don't accept this as "historical." The plane simply cannot turn left in any sustained way without having a nose down attitude, and even then that is barely attainable because you can't rudder well enough to get into the right position anyways. And then trying to turn right is equally impossible because the rudder doesn't work well enough to counter the engine torque! And you can't energy fight with it because the rudder doesn't let you return on target before stalling out.

Do you test these things at all?

And,  fortunately,  there IS data on this. According to the late Javier Arango, his Camel turned just as fast in either direction once the turn was initiated.

His presentation and data has been posted before. Its not in dispute.

I'm interested if beta-testers were given a heads up to test these FM changes.  Significant but varied, changes to rudder authority across a number of aircraft.  Surely it has to be tested.

Mentioned in the other thread, Faerber is of the opinion this must be an unintended bug because it's not mentioned at all in notes. These things happen. Just gotta hope it gets fixed becuase it's not simply that the camel doesn't turn fast enough in one direction or hte other, you simply can't hold a turn at all. The alb decimates the camel right now.

Thing is,  you'd think an unintended bug would produce fairly consistent experiences,  but some planes have more rudder, and others less.

Camel didnt get same control rod jaming issue fix as the other planes (yet?)

All planes in FC got the reduced CHANCE for control rod jams, but only a couple got the advanced improvement of "flappy" control surfaces. Bristol is one of them. So when you do get a control jam, which is much rarer now, on most aircraft it will be a death sentence still.

Also Mitchell, Han just confirmed the Rudder issue is a bug and they are working on it.
