dburne Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 (edited) Not sure if they still use Pimax math , ie 6k screens = 12k. And a year out? Stating 4th quarter 2022. Guess they give themselves plenty of time to develop what they state. 2399 USD. I myself have just never been a big fan of these guys, but nice to see other VR developers pushing the envelope with the develpment. Edited October 25, 2021 by dburne
kissTheSky Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 Varjo Aero $1990, Pimax Frontier $2399, “Prosumer” VR has arrived. 1
Dagwoodyt Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 So buy what Pimax offers now in order to be first in line for their super-VR device? Is that the pitch or do I misunderstand?

Is that the pitch or do I misunderstand? Yep that is basically it. Come out and announce a new headset that is still at least a year away and likely more. But order what they have now and they will apply that toward the new headset. Sounds like someone may need some finances to fund this very ambitious development. I don't much care for Pimax. They have no trouble telling lies. First calling it a 12k device. Two 6k screens does not equal a 12k image. If that were the case my Vive Pro 2 would be a 10k device. Right. Then they state theirs will be the first hybrid, doing both PC-VR and Stand Alone. Guess they never heard of the Quest or Quest 2. "You can enjoy PC VR content as well as standalone VR content using one single device… It's never been like that for any other VR headset." They go on to state: "We are the world's first to implement Mini-LEDs" Apparently they missed the Varjo Aero announcement.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 They mistyped the release date. It's supposed to be Q2 2024. We should know brothers. Don't get fooled into pre-ordering, it's a trap. 3
Dagwoodyt Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Looks like an infomercial populated by actors. Wonder if Pimax has unsold inventory and/or is under pressure from creditors.
simfan2015 Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 "It's supposed to be Q2 2024." Nobody needs that high end VR headset before that date anyway I guess ... not before our RTX 4090/ 5090 (that is, if we can buy one before the year 2030) ! 1
Dagwoodyt Posted October 26, 2021 Posted October 26, 2021 Karl Gosling did an 8KX review on YouTube dated Sept. 17 2021. I think it gives a pretty good idea as to why the "Frontier" hype might be employed to promote 8KX sales.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Yeah he basically tore the 8KX apart. Same experience I had, distortion, feeling unwell, discomfort in the fitting.
