Afternoon,

Sorry to trouble you, but I have to ask this.
I know you get a lot of others asking, so if don't you reply I totally understand.
I have to give it a shot.

My system -
Mother board -     ASUS Prime X470-Pro AMD Ryzen 2
CPU -                    AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor
Video Card -         NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Memory-               32 mb

I do use the Track IR tracking system.

Keeping the cost between $500 - 800
Can you all recommend 2 - 3 monitors the if you were in my shoes I should consider?
32 - 42" /  Wide or Ultra Wide ........
This looks very interesting ---> SAMSUNG 34-Inch Odyssey G5 Ultra-Wide Gaming Monitor with 1000R Curved Screen, 165Hz

I have been doing some more reading......
WOW
For a monitor like this I'm going to need a new video card, suggestions?
34-Inch Ultra-Wide, 165Hz, Max ‎3440 x 1440 Pixels

Thank you for your time have a great weekend

IMO if you have 500-800 to spend, I would use it to update your PC spec.

You are on the very minimum to get the best out of gaming.

On an Ultrawide high res monitor your PC would not be able to get the best out of it.

You really should be looking at updating your CPU/GPU first

Afternoon,

Thank you for the reply it was most helpful.

Your correct I did some reading and remembered UserBenchmake.com.

WOW…. I had no idea my current Graphics card was dragging me behind.

With the current lack of video cards and the high price of what is available, I might wait until after the new year.  It’s just horrible.

------  CPU

For a CPU upgrade I’m seriously looking at the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X for its performance and cost.

Somewhere I read that for gaming a higher Clock is better than all those cores.

Using the comparison tool at UserBenchmake.com the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is better and almost as good as some other higher prices AMD Ryzen with their increase in Core Threads.

------ MONITOR

Currently using #2 side by side  ---

Asus VP249H 23.8" IPS LED LCD Monitor

48-75hrz 1920 x 1080 - 16:9-5 ms

I was thinking about the curved option, but I’m having some second thoughts now.

For the ULTRA-WIDE CURVED there is the issue with the Vertical.  With the flight sim there is looking up.  Having this restricted in the vertical, does give some concern.  Though at the moment I’m using 24” which is not that tall to begin with?

For the Standard 27” – 32” some are CURVED, I have some concern on the size on my desk and what Word and Spreadsheets will look like.

I guess it would be best to look for 1500 – 2000 R and avoid the 1000R curve

Here what I was looking into  27-32”  -

SAMSUNG G5 ODYSSEY SERIES   2560x1440  144hz

SAMSUNG G7 ODYSSEY SERIES   2560x1440  240hz

AOC CQxxG2 SERIES                        2560x1440  144hz

-           WILL IL2 RUN  WITH THESE

True with a 1080P there is a higher refresh rate, also worth mentioning  - ASUS TUF Gaming Series

Thank you all for your help

i have been using the asus rog XG43V for about a year now.

absolutely love it, 3840x1200, 32:10 aspect ratio...only one that's not 32:9,

thereby getting a little more height as well as a lot more width.

i had a 21:9 before and the difference is huge.

i know Jason Williams has the same.

I recently upgraded to a new system, partly to allow me to run IL2 GB on a Samsung Odyssey G9 49" monitor. I also use Track IR and I have to say its been an incredible experience and has made the game much more immersive for me, coming off of a 27" 16:9 monitor. I'm running the game at 5120x1440.

However, driving all those pixels comes with a very hefty price tag. My upgrade included moving to a Intel i9 10920X, 3080ti GPU and 32GB of fast RAM. This allows me to max out IL2 GB graphics settings and still hold 60fps.

Regarding the ultra wide question, as the G9 is in effect 2 x 27" monitors joined together, I don't feel I'm losing anything in the vertical, especially with Track IR. It just gives me great peripheral view (more like what your eye would naturally see) and stunning external landscapes. The G9 is also very curved at 1000R, which is quite extreme but I found that once I got used to it, it really does enhance the 'simulator' experience as it wraps around you.

I agree with the comments above, you need to check and make sure your CPU and GPU can handle the increase in pixels before deciding on a monitor.

I recently got an inexpensive 28" Curved Acer 1080p monitor to have for my main desktop, have a 28" regular flat Samsung as my secondary monitor.

Pretty pleased with this Acer, all my gaming is done in VR so I really did not need a higher resolution for a monitor.

Liking the curved fairly well.
