Battle of Bodenplatte - 'failure to update' message on (nearly) completing install

Dear 'co flyers',

 

I have been unable to install BOB and also BO Stalingrad despite very numerous attempts - the sim appears to nearly load then stops with the words 'Failed to update'

I know this is a problem experienced by other players with IL2 sims. I am getting nowhere with the IL2 team in sorting out. I've followed advice to install as administrator, turned off virus checker and also  deleted the sims 'update' file then try to install again but the problem remains.

 

Has ANYONE any ideas of how to sort this. V frustrating. Any help much appreciated. Malcolm Furneaux

Malcolm I am having problems this week also.  I purchased a new plane and when I start the launcher it analyzes my files and says it has to upgrade and will take 33 GB.  It then downloads more than 150 GB and has gotten to the point of decompressing files.  Then it says "Failure to Update".  I have opened ports on my firewall and rebooted the PC and uninstalled the game and still the same thing. I hope the developers can help both of us soon.  Jim

Turn off your firewall, restart the computer, make sure it's still off and update or reload your game. Restart your computer, turn the firewall back on.  I used to have to do this so "The other Sim's Multiplayer worked" otherwise it never worked after an update, or repair function.  It can't hurt.

Failed to update could be low space on your HD or SSD, you would get that with Steam if you were downloading

and says failed to update, so check your space, it may calculate how much space you have based on what it needs

and if your space is low or not enough then it may fail.

   Whether thats the issue or not at least if you can eliminate that possibility it would narrow down the issue for you.
