Spidey002 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Just got Flying Circus on Halloween sale, so of course I downloaded PWCG Flying Circus! I'm creating a new German pilot, and I want to be able to fly in the iconic Fokker Dr. I. What settings do I need to apply to make this possible? Year, role, rank, squadron, etc.? P.S. I'm ok if I start a start in a junior rank or an earlier year, as long as I get to fly it eventually. Edited October 22, 2021 by Spidey002 correction
co199 Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Most German squadrons after about December 1917-February 1918 will start being equipped with the Dr. I. Jastas 2, 4, 6 and 10 I know for sure get it in that time frame. Pick one of those and say, February of 1918 and you should be able to fly her. 1
Spidey002 Posted October 22, 2021 Author Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Thanks! If I start earlier in the war in one of those Jastas, will I eventually be able to fly the Dr. I, or am I stuck with whatever plane I start in? Edited October 22, 2021 by Spidey002 Grammar matters
PatrickAWlson Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Plane assignments change over time. As DRIs are introduced they will begin to come available. PWCG models a supply chain. Aircraft are manufactured by their date of introduction and need across units. The planes then go to a depot. From the depot they are distributed to squadrons that need them. Better planes replace worse planes as part of the algorithm, so you don't have to destroy your old planes to get the better new ones. 1

As Pat said above, yep - upgrades are modelled, so for many of the Jastas you'll start in the Albatros, then upgrade to the Dr. I, and then to the VII at the end of the war. 1
