Outline when removing insignia on P-51

Hi sorry if this have been up before but cant find anything...

 

The problem i have is that when i remove the US insignia on the P-51 they leave a outline? how do i remove that?

I think you have to go into the alpha channel and lighten the area to the color of the surrounding panels.

If you're working with the multi layered template and layered alpha, there is an easier way to do this. When using the Alpha, look for the layer with markings and either uncheck it so it isn't visible or delete it completely.

That was the point I was trying to make. Whatever markings are on the final .dds skin have to be duplicated exactly in gray scale on the Alpha or else you end up with a "ghost image" as shown on the OP's skin. I'd guess he changed the markings on the skin template but didn't import a new Alpha. It was the part of skinning for this series that baffled me for too long.
