Aircraft change during a career?

When you create a new career, you choose a battle period, an aircraft and an airfield.

Can you change aircraft during this career?

Does the career propose to you to change aircraft after some time?

For example, in BoB, you can start a career with a Bf109G6, but I see that the same airfield I'm starting on, also hosted Bf109G6 late and Bf109G14. That's why I was wondering if at some point I can change or the career model proposes a change to you.

Yes, you can.  On the Headquarters screen you can click on another unit and it will give you the option to join that unit.

Career will propose you change unit if your active unit is transferred out of the campaign map or dissolved/reassigned.

The only way to force a change of aircraft during a career is to transfer into a different unit.
However, if your current unit was historically re-equipped with a different aircraft at some point in the career's time frame then you will begin to receive the new model at the proper date automatically- for better or worse.

In my most recent Moscow campaign my I-16 squadron was upgraded to Migs, I'm a terrible Mig pilot...

Thank you all for your answers!

That’s good news.
That means I don’t need to create 2 separate careers to experience the Bf109 G6 and G6 late if my unit supports both.

Yes, you'll see the G-6 and G-6 Late in the same units up to the end of September 1944. After that, the early G-6 goes away.

For Normandy, you'll likely see both as well in the same units - plus probably a few G-14s from July 1944.

Everytime I request a transfer, the game makes me feel bad about it...

'Are you really requesting to leave your comrades in arms, your brothers, the ones that went through fire and hell with you just to try out a new plane? Really?'

Jesus...no no its alright, who needs a Dora anyway....
