We actually have more allied planes than axis ones. Last collector releases, U-2, no axis release. After that the hurricane, Yak9 and 9T, no axis release. C-47 incoming as well only axis that has been announced in recent history is the IAR. I think it’s time for some axis planes!

When the devs say “one that many of you have asked for”, was there a tool used to calculate the most popular plane in the forums? is there a pol that I missed out on? ?

Wondering why we still don't have these things/planes. Easy to build just merge two things together. Nice toy for the 109/190 players in MP who mainly fly fighters than bombers ?

I think it's not just about number of allied vs axis collectors but rather how's it's gonna sell and variety it provides for game overall.

Both allies and axis have plenty of fighters, allies are missing medium bombers while axis have jets, jet bombers, medium bombers etc.

 

B-25 being iconic plane will sure put new light on il2GB and sell good.

After B25 i hope we'll see Ju88a17, it could provide new gameplay, since it's just a torpedo modification of existing ju88a4 it could mean there is not much work for the devs while new torpedo gameplay could be a very good selling point.

There has also been some good news with some research endeavors Jason has working on. If all goes well It may bring a new warbird to our skies. One that many of you have asked for. Stay tuned for more on that.

I really don't see the point in Ju 88A-17. If we have air dropped torpedoes, there was a field mod to put them under a Ju 88A-4 and that represents the A-17 fine. If we don't have air dropped torpedoes it has no purpose. I'd like to see air dropped torpedoes but we already have three aircraft in the sim that can carry them, we don't need to add a special torpedo carrier plane for them.

Agreed in that case I rather have them make the Do 217 which is also capable of dropping torps -> new bomber and torpedos rather than just old bomber with new torps

I don't mind even if it's ju88a4 with field mod just as long it has torpedos, it's about new gameplay .

Thing is i don't think it's easy to add torps to current ju88a4 just like that, it's easier than creating new plane from the ground but still amount of work is needed so why would they do it for free when it is a good oportunity to profit even if it doesn't sell good (amount of work vs profit).

If it really isn't much work than they can release it alongside B25 (?).

 

So no mather what plane it is, ju88a4 field torp mod, ju88a17 or Do217 torpedo bomber it's fine by me if it goes as collector.

As long as it have torpedo loadout i'm more than happy, nevermind the aircraft type

The current torpedo mod is for player only, so the AI aircraft still carry bombs. With a Ju88A-17 in the game, or any other torpedo carrying aircraft, torpedo attacks, especially in SP, could be much more ambitious, and coordinated between multi aircraft.

Right, but if 1C implement air dropped torpedoes then they can be put on anything because they're in the game properly instead of bodged in a mod. Then they can be added as loadout options to the Ju 88A-4, He 111H-6/16, A-20B and the AI B-25 and B-26 and can be used in scenarios and so forth. There is no need to add a new aircraft to ask for torpedoes.

People will laugh, but it's a German "bomber" that actually saw daylight use on the western front in 1945.

Interesting! As a loyal purchaser of almost everything in GB, I have looked forward to torpedoes in the game for years and it makes me wonder why the Devs have not done this yet.
