II./JG27_Rich Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) My dad and I saw this one when it came to Kelowna in the 90s. I didn't know we had such a cool Desert Hurricane Edited July 4, 2014 by II./JG27_Rich 1
MiloMorai Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 The Brits are in for a real treat this summer as they will be able to see 2 Lancaster in formation. The Canadian Lancaster is making the trip across the Big Pond. The Hurricane Mk 4 of Vintage Wings of Canada is painted in the markings of RAF 6 Squadron, “The Flying Tin Openers”, which operated the Hurry in the “tank- busting” and ground attack role. Many Canadian pilots flew the cannon-equipped tank-buster variant with 6 Sqn. on operations in North Africa. Vintage Wings puts on a very nice airshow every September.
II./JG27_Rich Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 Thank you for the info MiloMorai. I must admitt that the North African Desert camouflage has always been a favorite of mine, not only on my 109s but also on Allied fighters. I think P-40s look outstanding in Desert camouflage.
