IL2 not booting up with Quest 2, Steam VR, Oculus Link App

Hey Everyone!

   Hope you're all well.  I recently bought an Oculus Quest 2 to enhance my experience with IL-2.  Initially I've been using Virtual Desktop to play my games, and although most of my games are playing smooth (Half Life, war thunder, no mans sky) I can't seem to get IL-2 to run at a smooth rate (20-30fps, low graphics).  I've since bought an Oculus link cable to play with the oculus app on my PC.  I have noticed a significant performance boost in all my games.  When I boot up IL2 in through steam VR with my oculus connected via link however, the game does not launch at all.  I can boot other games up, but not IL2.   I have checked off VR HMD mode, launched it in vr mode through steam, and I can not get it to launch.  It says it is going to boot the game up, but gets stuck at a black screen.

Any help would be really appreciated, thanks guys!!

AMD Ryzen 5 3600x
RTX 2070s
16 Gigabyte RAM

Maybe it will help
Reduces the graphics option in the Il2-BoS -Restart .. test ... and slowly approach the best option. 

 

you don't need the - Virtual Desktop - in Steam it asks you whether you want to play in VR or in standard mode.

I had the same problem for a while. I first had to boot SteamVR (inside Steam: View -> Start SteamVR (BETA)), and only after that click IL2 Sturmovik -> Play -> Launch in VR in SteamVR mode.

 

For some reason that's no longer the case. I don't know what, if anything, I did to change that. Maybe it's related to me changing to OpenVR + FSR. See the following two posts:
