Flanker15 Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 After reading the new update I'm confused about the wording of plane availablity? So in the campaign will every plane, unit and pilot be discretely modeled? So each side starts with a table of planes, vehicles and pilots including the player and their current location and status from which the missions are built and if they are damaged/destroyed in the air or if their airbase is attacked they must be repaired/replaced? So it would be possible for a side to run out of good pilots or certain plane type, or is each airfield given unlimited planes and/or pilots of certain types to use?
FlatSpinMan Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 I didn't get that impression but it'd be quite cool if that were the case. What parts of the update gave you this idea? You may be right, but I think it'll be somewhat different.
ACG_Suardi Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Campaign and career are different things... are you talking about what??? Because campaign is static, and career is dynamic.
Flanker15 Posted July 4, 2013 Author Posted July 4, 2013 Campaign and career are different things... are you talking about what??? Because campaign is static, and career is dynamic. Now I'm more confused I thought they were the same, career where you play the dynamic campaign is what I'm talking about though. There are static campaigns too? I thought it was only quick battles.
Doogerie Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Campaign and career are different things... are you talking about what??? Because campaign is static, and career is dynamic. So you could say we get 4 campaignas 2 static and 2 dynamic (like IL 2) this is good news and if Hyperloby hosts the game i can see us (as a group) having hours upon hours of fun.
gavagai Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 (edited) Now I'm more confused I thought they were the same, career where you play the dynamic campaign is what I'm talking about though. There are static campaigns too? I thought it was only quick battles. It's just words. People are used to calling scripted sequences of missions "campaigns," and randomly generated missions are part of a "career." In Rise of Flight you have both of those, but the career is not dynamic. In a dynamic career you might destroy a railway station, and then it will still be destroyed the next time you fly. What you described in your first post is more like a war simulation, similar to Falcon 4. I don't think we're going to see that for BoS or any other flight sim titles in the near future. I'm not going to speculate about BoS campaigns or careers because, at this point, I'm pretty confused about what is supposedly coming. Edited July 11, 2013 by gavagai
ACG_Suardi Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Campaigns are totally statics, they're like a history that you can play any time you want. And every time you play, they'll be the same. Same missions, same number of airplanes, same objectives and etc...In the Carrer mode, you'll never know what you gona do in your next mission. Like in RoF. Maybe you not even flight on the next day, because of bad weather conditions. My tip is... Download Rise of Flight. It's a great flight sim, it's free and you will understand much betteer how BoS will be.
FlatSpinMan Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 But will BoS have static campaigns (except for user made ones later on)? I assumed it would ship with the Career mode (randomly generated missions that advance chronologically but do not track damage to buildings etc) like in RoF, and some standalone missions. That is just an assumption of course, I know no more than you guys do.
