ZeeCharleszcfd02 Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Looking for a VR to try, the Artisan by Pimax looks attractive. Seems there are lots of negative comments on the HP sets... Anyone have actual experience with the Artisan?
RAAF492SQNOz_Steve Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 (edited) I cannot provide feedback on the Artisan as I have never had an opportunity to try any of the Pimax VR units. A lot of the negative comments on the HP G2 may relate to a USB issue with AMD Computers that I am happy to say has now been resolved with the release of a new cable. The updated cable comes standard with new headsets and HP are happy to replace the old one under warranty. The picture quality of the Reverb G2 is amongst the best of the consumer VR headsets currently available. HP also deserve kudos for (finally) resolving the USB issue as the solution would not have been cheap for warranty fixes. Most recent feedback about HP Reverb G2 would be on how to maximise framerates and IL2 settings as VR headsets capable of it's resolution place heavy demands on CPU and GPU components. Some comments are made about how hot the HP G2 can get but these comments seem to be in the minority. In at least one instance the Hot G2 issue was resolved by obtaining a replacement unit under warranty. Very pleased with my HP Reverb G2 that I have now owned for 10 months or so. asalex Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 I've a low end system (for VR) i5-10600K and GeForce 1070. Fly IL2 with Artisan and Drift S. Enjoy both, artisan have better Fov, but Drift S are a bit more sharp and fluid, no much, but enough to make it more pleasant. I would only recommend artisan for low end systems like mine, and at a low price tag. I got mine 2nd hand for 300€ in 2020 and won't pay that much for them today.
