even without comparing one to one

the current maps loooks too much outdated

especially when you are on the ground and drive through the towns and cities

i hope we get the improvement soon

i read the dev diary that said they are working on improving graphic engine

i hope that we get to drive beautiful tanks along with the map that has same kind of fidelity and quality in il-2 series

well i think in reality our map is better, yes if you look at the vid with a monster pc it looks good, but dcs is mainly an air war you wont see that, secondly there attempt at ground war is pathetic, im a long time user of dcs but there general maps are from the 70s.

ours are not perfect, but i think do a much better job, and the stress on pc is far less

for me is far more important to have destroyable objects(like fences, road signs, trees) and buildings on every map.

but i do agree that this looks nice.

Honestly this is a bit of a mixed bag. DCS map has pretty features for sure but in other ways, the Great Battles are better. Especially the Tank Crew map.

I think the current map which we have is fine but it would help if the devs would split it up in 10 smaller maps, all playable, which we could use for user made missions and give us a chance to see parts of the map we rarely or never see in the campaign on single missions. Also one reason why TC lacks atmosphere compared to other tanks sims is that the map is huge and mostly empty whereas smaller maps would allow the action to be concentrated in a smaller area and once they add infantry it could improve the immersion dramatically.

I do like that theoretically we can have a series of missions that happen across the whole tank map though. I think Tank Crew maps are good enough. I always want more but I find tank crew maps to be fairly immersive actually. They do the endless steppe thing well that's for sure :)

As Frinik said though, the problem is that they are sanitised because they lack all of the convoys, horse drawn supply wagons and especially the long lines of troops and traffic jams. At the front the trenches full of men and all of the fire and sound coming from them. Additionally it would be great to be able to climb out of the tank to do things. Including scouting. In the air the human element is simply missing and that is normal, but on the ground things should be dripping with character and immersion.

But like I said. I am happy enough. This is still better than any other tank sim I have played. Perhaps on par with SB pro PE... gunner heat that is coming does not look to have any more character than this does.

As a DCS player mainly I can guarantee you that whilst you may want the city you do not want all the performance issues that go with it.

i was fine

even with my mediocre set up (1650 super4gb ,12gb memory)on medium high setting

in the channel map 40-50fps

and i wouldn't mind that much if the visual is that much stunning i don't really care about frame rate as long as it is playable

Fair dos - at 40-50 fps Id be kicking my cat and if I took the mossie I could probably leave the Zeros on those figures back in blightly.
