Popular Post Jason_Williams Posted October 5, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 5, 2021 Just got my hands on a new build with new clouds for my first serious look on my test machine. O M G ! So far so good.... back to testing. Jason P.S. ok here is one from a quick flight flying over the overcast tonight. What's so different is that these new clouds (besides their beauty) is that they can be much bigger, yet did not cripple my test rig. At least my very first tests did not experience this with tons of clouds in the sky. We'll share more pics or videos once the final feature takes more shape. We only have a very few test clouds at the moment with just a new moments of artist thought so who knows that the top end can be. Also, I hadn't lost SA in a dogfight in a long time, but with these new deeper clouds you can seriously not know which way is up and if you are in a dive and not know it, it may be too late to pull out when you come out the bottom. Get to know your artificial horizon! All is WIP so don't try to make assumptions about any of it yet. I look for niggles with new tech even more than you guys believe me. Sorry for the tease, but you know I get excited over new stuff! 58 13 8 14

40plus Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Highly anticipated update Please share some YouTubes!!!
I./JG52_Woutwocampe Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Funny, I was flying Dora just a tad earlier and I litterally told myself I could not wait to get improved clouds in GB. ....and I scored 15 kills. So its all good. Really good.
Jade_Monkey Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 It must be really something else. Jason and the team are more of the underpromise and overdeliver kind. I really hope that the new clouds work well in VR. DCS and MSFS new clouds look good in monitors but not so much in VR. 1 3
Zinovy_Kolobanov Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Coml well, jade_monkey comments, we VR guys hope an implementation in accordance with the monitor guys, to this day I personally suffer from seeing the current clouds with a somewhat annoying vibration, on the horizon line, which is requested when a zoom is applied Obviously I can't fly with zoom in all the time because I would vomit, I understand that all the tests of new technologies are also evaluated with VR viewers? Great job, I have always thought that the sky and the clouds are the first references to feel that you are really in the air I am eager to see the end result. Will we see in the future changes also in meteorological effects, new rain, snow, storm, as well as changes in skydomes, and stars with more realistic scales? 1
TWC_Ace Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 (edited) Jason, can you tell us what will be (if any) performance hit on our rigs, with these new clouds? Or they are even less demanding? Edited October 6, 2021 by =VARP=Tvrdi 1

354thFG_Leifr Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Beautiful! Jason, are you able to say if these new clouds will work at different altitudes for some real density across the sky-space?
Rjel Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 When I can almost feel the excitement from Jason or one of the other team members’ posts, it really gets me pumped for what’s coming. Those clouds look amazing. As a life long cloud gazer, I can’t wait to see this level of realism in our sim.
Denum Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 I'm getting blue balled on all sides these days ?
357th_KW Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 This looks like a really nice development. Thick overcast layers would be a game changer. Particularly if you can provide some occasional breaks in the clouds, or have the layer only cover part of the map.
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 oh fluffy! they look really nice! does the new tech still include that "entering cloud" visual effect you get when within a few meters of cloud but not really in it? im not talking about the awesome water droplets, i mean the sort of post processing cloud around your ship that starts to form.. 1

Halon Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 (edited) Hope once its rolled out I hope it gets shown off on Steam Store? Especially alongside all the other graphical improvements ? Edited October 8, 2021 by Halon
Rapierarch Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 (edited) Please tell us that you are also testing these in VR too!. I will be incredibly disappointed if I cannot get solid 72fps with all the tweaks I did in months time to be able to fly with my 2070 super. I'm simply in no position to be able afford a gpu upgrade. I have the same GPU and get solid 79 on a Rift S. what are your settings like?
