=LD=Hethwill Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Was discussing with some buddies the other day. All fine and dandy with being the air jockey, getting into the thick of it and survive through and snatching some victories and all. What about ground crews ? - we all asked. We couldn't find any game title than would deal with Ground crew simulation and ESPECIALLY in a WW2 setting. I've came across a car mechanic game of sorts, mainly engine building and IIRC had a business management part as well. Would be nice to have a ww2 sim about ground crews ?
Finkeren Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I would have little interest in it, but what I would like to see is a proper air war strategy game. Some flight sims have experimented with this, but I think only Rowans BoB was quite succesful.
Sternjaeger Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 get yourself AutoCAD and start drawing aircraft, that's as good as it gets
=LD=Hethwill Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 I played Defend the Reich and Achtung Spitfire a lot, one was way more interesting than the other, but both gave great importance to the ground crews at their scope level, strategic and local tactical. I get the point. The discussion is and was purely theoretical but given the importance of ground crews, and all "management sims" out there about everything it is interesting this was never attempted in its earnest. Rowan's seems nice.

=LD=Hethwill Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 Being that "reductive" is not a clever approach imo. If you look at B-17 Flying Fortress oldie you see they managed to do a good game based on a bomber crew management plus the tension of flying the missions.
Sternjaeger Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I didn't mean to be "reductive" (I assume you meant dismissive?), but you have to appreciate that if sims are a niche product, ground crew sims would have even less audience, so it's hard to justify the production cost for it. It might be a good idea if you find a bunch of like-minded people though, and you make a kickstarter campaign or similar for it.
