After more years than I care to remember of buying EVGA products I finally had one fail on me.

My most awesome 3090 FTW3 Ultra bit the dust yesterday evening. I use it quite heavily in gaming on a mostly daily basis.

Luckily I had the foresight to purchase the EVGA Advanced RMA with next day cross shipping.

Called their tech support today, and a very helpful gentleman has already processed the Advanced RMA for it and I should hear back on shipping details in 1-2 business days. Once received I will have 14 days to return the defective card to them.

Big kudos to EVGA on this!

This type of service is why I buy EVGA products. I have always read about their great service and can now attest to the same.

I honestly have no idea, card has ran great for me since getting it last Nov. I figured I was golden by now, but apparently not.

Hope I can also purchase another Advanced RMA on the replacement.

I believe the Advanced RMA transfers to the new one, but they’d tell you so if/when you call to purchase one.

That would certainly be great if it did.

Wow so I was expecting to hear back in 1-2 business days.

But I just heard back from them already! Everything is approved and I just needed to submit my CC # for them to hold as collateral until they get the defective card back.

This is why EVGA has such a stellar reputation in customer service. They took something I was dreading and made it as simple and painless than I could possibly have even imagen!

They have that make & model of GPU currently in stock at my local computer parts supplier, for *only* £2300 ($3115). The post-sale service will need to be pretty darn good for that kind of money, but I won't be buying one anyway.

You could buy a brand new Les Paul or Rickenbacker guitar for that kind of money and they will still hold their value in ten years time, whereas that GPU will just be a big ugly paperweight by then.

EVGA is almost the only company that allow to replace a cooling system.

I know it doesn’t apply to the regions outside North America, which are woefully underserved by eVGA, but they’re the only manufacturer to set up a legitimate first come first serve queue and sell their cards at MSRP (RRP equivalent in the US) through that queue (also the only manufacturer that has not significantly raised their prices to take advantage of the market*).  Having been buying/using their products for a long time, I was able to purchase a card through the queue, and at the listed price while scalpers (and European resellers as it’s apparent) we’re charging more than double for private sales, I am grateful to them and will be buying their products in the future. The current crisis in supplies and the increase in demand is not their making, but I don’t believe any other GPU manufacturer did as much as they did to ease the effects of it, at least in the US.

* They have raised their prices $70 in the US back in May to account for the tariffs they’d had to pay since start of 2021.

Indeed, and not only in the UK ... but all over Europe too !

Those so called 'shops', re-sellers, whatever are in fact no more than ordinary thieves.

This is no longer a free market system, gets worse than government driven price hiking we are used to in Europe.

In Europe we are used to be cheated in everything, taxes, fines, VAT ... you name it !

But this 'shortage' is simply a legal way of stealing even more from customers.

We should have class actions suites over here and get prices back to MSRP + an acceptable bonus, but not this !

I refuse to participate in this scam and will wait ... again.

I already postponed purchasing my next PC system by more than a year ... I will try to wait a bit longer still.

IMHO 2000 USD for an RTX 3080 Ti is madness.

Yeah same here - I got my 3090 FTW3 Ultra at MSRP in Nov 2020 thanks to the EVGA Que system.

Yes, the fact that stores are allowed to set their prices as they see fit is different than what we have here in the US, where stores are usually required to sell at MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price).

I was curious to know what are the EVGA prices for a 3080Ti in Europe (not in stock) and a known reseller in Spain with stock.

The EVGA price is 1229€ (plus 21%VAT is 1487€) and the reseller is 1830€, so the price difference is 343€, which is about 23% more. At least not double in this case.

Also, as you can see below, the EVGA queue has been temporarily disabled, at least in europe site.

"At least not double in this case...."

It surely is almost double, even today after so called 'price drops' !

I compare prices against US MSRP vs European reseller pricing, as announced by Nvidia/AMD only about a year ago.

The more people know about price hikes, the more they are willing to pay to get this stuff.

Even if shops double prices, again, people will pay up.

The sick part of it is that people (in Europe) got used to paying +2000 USD for a graphics card.

Anyone still remember the price of that superb 1080 Ti ... I sure do !

Nvidia and AMD are now celebrating all day ... crypto or no crypto.

Their RTX 4090 / RDNA 3 stuff  will be announced by Nvidia/AMD for, say, MSRP 3000 USD and will be sold in Europe for at least 4000 EURO.

Not hard to predict, no surprise there.

I am sure hoping I get a shipping notice tomorrow from EVGA for my replacement card.

Going all weekend with no gaming was brutal. Would love to get the card on Tuesday. The RMA states shipping in 1-3 business days.

Keeping fingers crossed.

I'm worried a bit about my 3080Ti FTW3 as well. It's a bit too noisy and hot under load.

Hope it's just paranoia, but I did have two EVGA cards die on me.

Yeap, that´s right if you refer to the NVIDIA MSRP prices of the three announced cards just one year ago.

They were:

RTX 3070 – $499, €499, £469  ($ prices are directly translated to €, I assume is to include the european VAT, since MSRP prices should include VAT)
RTX 3080 – $699, €699, £649
RTX 3090 – $1499, €1499, £1399

This was just the MSRP prices, but exactly in that time (Sept-2020) and depending on the model the prices were from 5% to 40% more.

For example for the 3070 at Sept-2020 the prices were:

  • ASUS RTX 3070 ROG STRIX OC: 720,72 Euro
  • ASUS RTX 3070 ROG STRIX OC: 687,96 Euro
  • PNY RTX 3070 XLR8 EPIC-X: 611,52 Euro
  • ASUS RTX 3070 DUAL OC: 599,51 Euro
  • PALIT RTX 3070 GAMEROCK OC: 599,51 Euro
  • PNY RTX 3070 XLR8 EPIC-X: 589,80 Euro
  • EVGA RTX 3070 ICX3: 578,88 Euro
  • INNO3D RTX 3070 ICHILL X4: 578.88 Euro
  • PALIT RTX 3070 GAMEROCK: 578,88 Euro
  • PALIT RTX 3070 GAMINGPRO OC: 578,88 Euro
  • INNO3D RTX 3070 ICHILL X3: 557.01 Euro
  • ASUS RTX 3070 DUAL OC: 546,09 Euro
  • INNO3D RTX 3070 TWIN X2: 546,09 Euro
  • KFA2 (GALAX) RTX 3070 SG: 546,09 Euro
  • PALIT RTX 3070 GAMINGPRO: 546,09 Euro
  • ZOTAC RTX 3070 TWIN EDGE: 546,09 Euro

Today, the prices for the 3070 in Europe are just 100% more than MSRP, and in the US even a bit more:

3070.png.3ef5e4c051caa45c7fff05ed9f872469.png

3070US.thumb.png.67966a376bf15e3b7146c330fc67e3cc.png

For the 3080 is also about 100% more and for the 3090 it seems to be around 80%, which are crazy prices.

The case I was comparing was for the 3080Ti annouced last June, the NVidia MSRP prices was $1199, €1199.

So, for just this 3080Ti, EVGA is about 24% more and reseller is 52% more, but not double.

I built the computer I play on now back in April 2019, I spent a bit more than I wanted to, and held off on a video card, I have been saving for it, and when I think I'm ready, the prices have gone up again and again and again. Well I finally pulled the pin and I hope it does not blow up in my face or on my Mobo... I got a MSI Ventus RTX3080ti (with warranty, I've had them go bad) I'm getting ready to install this morning, just flashed my bios, won't tell you the last time I did that... .LOL... Got to get out another cable for the Power Supply, the 1060 I'm running only uses one cable.  Clean out the dust and cobwebs... not really... well almost.... and see how this thing runs IL2 flat out, and the "Other" sim too.  If any of you yahoo's tell my wife I plan on getting VR by Christmas I'll come find you......

Cheers

Yay my replacement EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra is out for delivery today by 7:00 PM.

Made the call to EVGA on Friday afternoon and here it is out for delivery, awesomeness.

Of course that is because I purchased the Advanced RMA with next day air service back when I registered this card, and am very glad I did.

So I am bored and killing a little time until I get my replacement later today and can start gaming again.

Windows Update had a message this morning that my PC was all ready to go for Windows 11. So I downloaded the upgrade assistant and went ahead and installed it.

Took about 45 minutes and all appears to be good to go so far. I had to go back in and disable power management on my USB peripherals as usual after a big update. I am now on Windows 11 Version 21H2.

Woohoo card received this evening and working splendidly.
