I'm OK with the US .50s now. What do others think?

That is still the case.   However, we did some testing after the patch and the .50s are causing a small but noticeable amount of aero damage now.    So, even if you don't kill the enemy with PK or engine hits, you're going to reduce his combat effectiveness.   Nowhere near as much as HE hits, but it will definitely reduce their speed and cause the wing to get "heavy".   They also tend to remove control surfaces much more now.

I am just hoping when the new fuel system happens, there will be things inside the planes body to damage. Sure, there are fuel tanks, rads, and oil tanks, but many planes seem to be abke to fly forever with a leak anyways. But being able to actualy sever the fuel from the engine would be useful as far as the 50's are concerned. They are definitely better. I found the sweet spot for me seems to be having the convergence set at 150. Then you can seem to down a plane with fewer shots.

yeah, US .50 feels like rolling 6 or 8 D20's for crits. HE ammo is rolling D20's for a not crit. it's a definite improvement but HE seems to be to strong still, especially when you factor in that AP still does next to nothing aero damage
