Closed Tank Battle Server

Recommended Posts

I'm giving some thought to having a weekly closed tank battle server with missions designed specifically for tank on tank.  The mission would be posted and slots listed for interested players to signup prior to mission day.  Each side would have a commander to decide tactical approach to specified objectives.  Missions would be set for Sundays at 200PM EST, which gives our EU members an opportunity to participate.  We've been doing this for some time now and would like to open it up to more players who are interested in a closed server approach.  Missions last for 3 hours.

I'm just trying to get an idea if anyone else is interested in this style of play.

it does sound amazing and i would like to participate, but my Sunday time is occupied already. Is there plans to move missions time to other day?

Well, if we got enough responses, we could move it to Saturday if that would be more convenient.  That's just a tough time here in the US because Fall and great weather, football, hunting, fishing....and overall family time outdoors.  Weekdays are out, because so many are working in the afternoons here in NA time zone.

it is more convenient and i do hope there would be enough interest in this event. at least from my perspective it would be are lot of fun and bring TC to more so needed attention

I would also be very interested. I've been trying to get something like this going for a while, but have been encountering countless difficulties with D-Server and mission creation. In any case, a couple quick questions:

Where can we sign up? What program do you use for communication? How many players are you expecting?

Excited to participate!

Mmmh, why not put the information directly on the forum, it can make others want ... do you have videos, extracts from your games?

I have to regulate the numbers gradually, and I've found that those players that are serious will take the extra step.  This concept is about vetted players who work well with other players in a command type structure.  So, if we get some like that...so be it, but if you'd like to say you are interested in the concept that is what this post is about.  This upcoming mission is not the full blown project I have for the future, but our regular Sunday SCG mission.  The style of play will be the same however, and it should be a lot of fun.  I've posted videos etc...in the past, and I have some on our site and in the video section of this forum, but I don't have time to mess with them at this point.  But for you...I will post some  :)

S!,

I found it particularly fun in doing a multi-crew tank operation. I know others had a good time manning their tanks solo, too. All of the participating squad members of JV44 thoroughly enjoyed the fight. We were a little rusty and unorganized in terms of comms, and were unaccustomed to the server mechanics, but in the end, it was great fun!

I really hope SCG offers to host another Tank Crew scrimmage. I will definitely be there for the next one should it happen.

Thank you SCG for hosting the event.

Yeah, the potential is absolutely there. It was awesome seeing that many tanks in one server! Excited for the next one.

We do it again, this coming Sunday......I have adjusted mission for Americans......bridge crossing..take 2.  Just the north area, no southern stuff, with Geleen secure.

Just a little video on our last Bridge Assault made against a fortified  German position, against AI, tanks, AT, mg, artillery and players.  Odds 2 to 1 in the Americans favor with artillery support and smoke deployment, hammering the heights and town below before attempting a bridge crossing.  The losses were predictable, but the Americans did cross over and continue their offensive to Heerlen.

The Germans redeployed to the town below when the pill boxes and tank positions on the heights were hit with heavy artillery and  were faced with a similar artillery situation within the town.  They melted off to the sides for cover and attempted to hold the bridge.  After the MkIV's had been wiped out, they refitted in MkIII's which eventually could not handle the Shermans.

Smoke deployment was a double edged sword in that it gave the panzers some cover while they redeployed.  The mission continued towards Heerlen when it was finally called off because of darkness, (4 hours later).

Many thanks to JV44 members for holding the defensive and showing their killing potential.  The video makes it look like the Americans didn't have any tanks, but I didn't have time to put everything together the way I'd like, but I wanted to show a little bit of it to highlight the immersion a bit.  PVP was 8 to 4, with a poop load of German AI for the Americans to contend with.  If I make another bridge assault mission...I will be even less popular with SCG then I am currently.  :)

I could be down for Sundays... I'm not particularly talented at it but could be fun. Can't do today (Putting a transmission in my Lexus), but could in the future

Well you are more than welcome to join us in the future.

One of our Heavy Panzer missions, Battle of Kursk. We use a lot of the smaller tanks now, but I still love the Tiger the best, especially in those long big steppes within the Kursk area. tanktemp2.png

Any possibility, like the finish one. That this server would be up 24hrs a day with rotating missions?

We have a 24/7 server concept that is being worked on, but not this particular tank priority build.
