354thFG_Panda_ Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Can the cloud quality be decoupled from the graphics presets? The pics from the DD was fabulous and as someone who is stuck playing on older hardware and using the lowest preset the clouds even on extreme have this liney/blur/pixelated render. Maybe this will change with the new update but just an idea)) 1 1
[DBS]Browning Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 I don't understand. We already have a option for cloud quality.

While there is an option for the quality, the quality of them still scales with the preset. So you can run extreme on a low preset and it will look decent near you but very choppy around and in the distance. If the preset is increased the tree and all other sorts of rendering kick in and makes it difficult to play. Edited September 24, 2021 by LR.TheRedPanda
[DBS]Browning Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 You don't need to use the presets. You can edit just the cloud quality also. It's labeled as "Clouds quality". Changeing just this setting will only effect clouds, but trees or anything else. 1

I have this setting on extreme If you flick through the presets (for the same cloud setting) and go in game heavy cloud setting you will notice a difference in visual quality in the clouds. These presets affect a lot of other things as well. I am just asking to decouple it so I can run the clouds without the other visual improvements making it harder to run that's all.
[DBS]Browning Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 All the presets do is change the options from the drop-down boxes to pre-set combinations. They do not have additional effects.

They also affect the "bubble" where detailed trees are drawn. And like OP stated the clouds. You can notice the effect on clouds when looking distant clouds at horizon. 3

354thFG_Panda_ Posted September 26, 2021 Author Posted September 26, 2021 My experience is similar to this. I don't know what settings the person is using but on my low preset extreme clouds quality settings you will see clouds like these in the distance and the near ones are blurry until you zoom in. The ones just next to you are clear and beautiful.
