Forget about the Arado Ar234...

Can we have this instead? The Arado Ar 232 'Tatzelwurm'. What a beauty. Unfortunately only ten twin-engined and ten four-engined made.

Golden age of aviation design. They through every bizarre concept at the wall and just wait to see what stuck. Then they put guns on it.

An aircraft I have always absolutely loved, and actually a very interesting design in its completely daft way. Really it's a shame the Germans came up with it, they'd have been absolutely brilliant in the CBI theatre.

And of course, it's an Arado. I expect the weird undercarriage was only added because it looked to conventional without it. ?

Therein lies the rub.  Hardly anybody but us WWII geeks ever heard of it, one version could have four engines (the B-17 would be developed first), and too few made to make it profitable to develop.

I do wish however that the Arado Ar 196 would be made.  God knows we, (well I at least), need a float plane to fly. ?

Interesting design, but that tail looks like it wants to snap off at the enemy's earliest convenience.

I guess you could say it's such a narrow target it's unlikely to be hit... except by flak, which isn't bound by the same logic as air-to-air shooting probabilities.

Is that the plane in this guncam clip from Fight For The Sky? I've always wondered what it was.

Looks more like a Do-17/217 thing, cause of the "gondola like shape" under the chin of the plane

Could be, it just looks to me like the fuselage bottom extends all the way to the rear when it tips down but it's hard to tell. It does make it clear how hard it must've been to identify E/A in the heat of battle.

While technically interesting, this will likely remain in the shadows of forgotten rarities for good.

If we ever get to the point where adding several transport aircraft per nation makes sense it might be an attractive candidate.

Also the name I know it under of is ,,Tausendfüßler" (milipede).

It was actually a good transporter. 4 engines made it less underpowered. The undercarriage could be lowered so loading would be easier. I love to have this.

If Germany had been a super power. Their designs would have been gold. But when they really needed supply there where no way to get it safely delivered
