Mind sharing this new shader code of yours?

Not yet, there is still some work to do with the Shader Code. This Screens are made with a updated Version. It was a Quick Test.

Allow just one observation - mainly because from this last batch of pictures I see that you're also kind of looking for the same result as I was, and I'm speaking of the overall snow colour. You should consider that this kind of white, especially clear on the third picture, would probably be true only during overcast conditions, in which the sunlight gets diffused, with the snowy landscape not receiving the blue of the sky.

Unless your intent is to produce something more personal, that is. I know, I'm picky.

Besides... is that selective vibrance+blue channel saturation?

Anyway, looking forward for more.

I think there could be a Solution to get white Cirrus-Clouds and Snow if the Game get Mod-Support with access to the Game Shader. To edit the Game Shader Effects is still better than with ENB or SweetFX. Its still interesting from where the blue/green snow and blue Cirrus-Clouds comes? RoF doesnt have this Problem. It looks like its the Game Engine or the Game Shader that do this. I try out some Environment files from BoS with RoF and found out its the BoS Game Engine. With RoF Game Engine I dont get blue Cirrus-Clouds and blue/green snow.  On RoF look all fine.

"Besides... is that selective vibrance+blue channel saturation?" --> I build in a ColorFilter to my Vibrance Shader and changed the Shader Code. One Shader for all what you want. With the ColorFilter I can do and get better results.

Today I did a Quick Test and set the ColorFilter with a very aggressive Setting to removing more blue from the Cirrus-Clouds and how the Environment looks overall with this Setting. For me was the test today to see how good the Shader work and scale. Still testing some changes inside the Shader code.

I don't get blue/green snow; not in BoS, not in RoF, both vanilla.

I could argue that clouds are just not even supposed to look white...

I guess I'm in the minority here but even with sweet fx there's simply too much white, not enough contrast, and frankly everything looks the same.   There's little color in the sim, the houses all look the same and frankly make flying over a town/city boring except Stalingrad and even at that it's only fun once.

The flight models are great, the airplanes are great, the AI is a challenge, but I find it hard to fly because it gets too boring too fast.  Are there any settings anyone has found to make the white less white and actually add some contrast?   I'm thinking about running this in cartoon mode to look more like borderlands as I can't take the graphics seriously outside the cockpit.  Instead of continuing to complain on it just checking in to see if others found better color settings.

The point is that editing the ingame shader are 100 times better than playing with sweet fx and you get much more better results. Thats it. Lets see how far the game modable will be...............

bluish tone is actually perfect for horizon, snow, and far landscape. quite more realistic as before, a bit less gamma too than before. and less aggressiv in my mind.

the only thing your last tweak shader really improve at  this state in a photorealisc look , in my mind is the sky tone, less blue saturated in your version.

The best photorealistic look in my mind should be only a Sky saturation mod.

I love to test my shader and sweetfxconfig on ZEUS map witch is the most photrealistic in my mind with all the new trees.

Does anyone know if SweetFX works with windows 8?

I sure can't get it to work, and I'm about 90 minutes fooling with it.  I've tried both sweetfx and flightfx.

With flightfx it would not let the game launch (I had AA disabled in game settings).  With disable/launch game/re-enable there was no effect at all using split screen.

With sweetfx, I get no results at all, although the game will launch unimpeded.  Anything you guys can think of that I might try?

Thanks!

Only Windows 7 user but I think it should work.

I advise to use SweetFX 1.51 though because FlightFX is based on an older version of SweetFX.

Check those install instructions here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2183-bos-and-sweetfx-works-great/?do=findComment&comment=52425

Also if you're a GeForce user you might encounter error messages when launching the game with SweetFX enabled. In this case deinstall GeForce Expirience or revert to an older version to make them disappear.

Any news on your colour shader btw? I also don't like the blueish colour fading everything out so I'd be very gratefull for a possebility to disable it without interferring with yellow and red channels :)

I like this one for the air to air shots. What do the shots with ground clutter look like. Most of your others are too washed out and lack the detail of the Dev version. I like seeing the furrows in the farmers fields under the snow, etc. I don't have Sweet or Flight installed. A fellow pilot walked me through an install and settings on my old system but it is not installed on the new rig. Is it difficult? What are your settings for these shots?

I use for this my own Shaders that I wrote myself. I have still backups from every setting that I made. The point is this was made with the early access version. They change to the finial version many times their shader code. Now it looks still good but each sky and ambient or enviroment they apply I need to do different settings for it. Thats why I still wait for the Mod-Support for this game, because I wanted to edit the sky.ini to made a better enviroment + sky + my SweetFX Shader + contrast and maybe they allow official to edit the game shader that are hardcoded.

But to this time enjoy my new Work :salute:

Your download link is dead ,Could you put again .thank

What Download link???  Do you mean the screenshots from post #95? If they not load or load to slow here the directlink http://www.pic-upload.de/view-25090902/Untitled-2.jpg.html

If you mean the Download link to my own Shader that I wrote myself and posted here? Yes they are automatic dead after 30 days if there is no download anymore. I upload it after I checked them with the finial game version, later

I hope you not mean this special shader from post #95 and #97 (screenshot directlink), because this is made under NDA agreement.

Only my SweetFX shader that wrote myself I reupload it again after I checked them with the final game version. That special shader above not.

Looking good, the only reason I don't use sweetfx is cause I like my 8x anti aliasing. The sweetfx SMAA isn't really enough for me.

Thanks, SMAA can be used together with anti aliasing and it can be disabled, too . Its not the best one that SweetFX offer its only 1x SMAA. 2TX SMAA or 4x SMAA is much better.

BTW what you say about post #100 where I made my own Custom Graphic Settings for Bloom [ON/OFF] :)

I didn't know you could also have 4x, I might try that.

Regarding post #100, I think without bloom looks a lot better and more realistic.

There is a dot between 1x SMAA and 2TX SMAA. :)

SweetFX support only 1x SMAA.

Will give it a try, though I'm quite pleased with my own settings currently.

Did you manage to eliminate some of the blueish shader thing with your SweetFX? Doesn't look much like it judging from your screenshot.

My aim is to weaken the blueish shade while improving other colours (especially in cockpits) withou interferring with the overall colour balance too much. Guess SweetFX isnt capeable of providing this though :/

Did you use the "Contrast Mode" or the "Natural Mode"?

If you try to remove the blueish shade thats only possible with the "Contrast Mode", because this shader is more effective removing the blueish shade. I see only one problem to find a perfect setting because the blueish shade change everytime together with the ingame Bloom. Short said the settings need to be everytime readjusted.

For example:

Tested your natural mode today, more or less what I expected. I fear there's no way to overcome this blue lightning shader with SweetFX with really satisfying results so I have to live with my colour tweak until a summer map appears :(

PS: I tried to combine your settings with some lines of my own and tinkering around didn't improve the looks. Guess I might be too unprofessional/familiar to work with your custom vibrance shader code

The cockpit pic looks more like it but still has a lot of blue. The thing I'm messing aroudn with is to eliminate blue via vibrance and gammagain while increasing overall saturation of all colours.

As result red and yellow channels get boosted while blue one stays at a low level making the cockpits looks more alive with "fresh" colours (cockpit quality is my main focus btw.).

Only disadvantage of my method currently is that it will automaticly add a brown-redish film over the entire image. Does look quite nice at dawn but it's not looking perfect at daytime settings. Still much better than default ingame graphics.

The image you provided looks like this technique couldn't work properly as the cockpit is still too much filled with blue.

Once my client work again I'll show you some of my "magic" ;)

That with the Cockpit I known the blue lightning is everywhere and a balance between all colors is not easy. I still look if I manage some settings that the blue inside the cockpit turn into a black one.  Maybe modding the ingame shader that are hardcoded could help more?

It also enhances the colour quality of aircrfaft skins when watched in exteriour view.

Here you can clearly see the "brownish" colour overlay I explained. Doesn't look too bad in the hangar in my opinion though the landscape appearance might be a little off at certain time settings.3ltsaene.jpg

Of course it also has a good effect on russian planes though the benefit isn't as clearly visible as in the german planes due to their distinctiv layout ;)

I try it, too. But I had more the focus to made all things perfekt from Clouds to the Cockpits. Not sure if I find some improvements inside my shader to made my settings that I post #110 and #111 above to made them a little better. I dont think there is much room for improvements without mod-support and ingame shader modding now.

Thx! I surely see what you mean and wish you best luck to accomplish it. My preeferrable goal is the cockpits, not only because that's what I'm seing 90% of the time flying on expert servers

Hope there'll be a way to combine great looking envirounments with colourfull cockpits. I'm too terrible at programing to mess with the shader code

Why after uninstalling SweetFX game won't start?

You probably deleted the d3d9.dll which is usually replaced by a custom one with sweetFX. BoS needs to have it's shader file in lace or it can't run. Try to delete your update folder and fire up the launcher again, it should download the missing files automaticly.

There is  d3d9.dll  in my IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\game folder (dated  8.8.2012 ,167KB) .

Could be some leftovers of SweetFX files still in there than? It's difficult to help if the kind of error is pretty much unknown.

The original looks better in nearly every case here.  I'm wondering if you might actually be a bit colour blind and not be aware?

lol I was thinking that too.

also, that resolution...

The no bloom looks much much better imo...
