6./ZG26_Loke Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 That a 500kg bomb goes straight through a destroyer, without detonating, is that counting for a bug?
Beazil Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Is it at all possible that you missed? Just putting it out there. I know skip bombing I can miss by accidently skipping over the ship if I drop at the wrong time.
6./ZG26_Loke Posted September 21, 2021 Author Posted September 21, 2021 Believe these screenies explain it very well.
IckyATLAS Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 There was a puff of smoke on the structure where the bomb went through, which means that the ship structure recorded the hit. Unfortunately the bomb didn't feel any impact as the steel plates where probably too thin, and the rest is just fabric which does not oppose any resistance, so it continued flying straight in the sea. The contact fuse was also probably rusted by the sea salty air and needed a stronger impact force. As you imagine this is pure speculation ?. Nice pictures anyway. 1
Art-J Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Yeah, I'd hazard a guess damage model of ships in this sim is somewhat simplified and unless you hit the hull itself,or maybe a tower, the bomb will not explode. More testing is necessary to confirm, though.
6./ZG26_Loke Posted September 27, 2021 Author Posted September 27, 2021 Don't think I can hit it exactly there again ?

It passed through so even with 5 sec it would have exploded away from ship, maybe causing some damage. Edited October 4, 2021 by VBF-12_Stick-95
