ram0506 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Does that mean we will get your first impressions report soon?
DD_bongodriver Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Certainly get mine when I've finished playing.
SR-F_Winger Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 dito. Ill report ASAP after finishing my playsessions:)
Matt Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 About damn time. I ordered on day 2, so i hope my order is still included in the first batch.
LLv44_Mprhead Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Certainly get mine when I've finished playing. Sometime in November then?
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 S! Bongo and Winger, would be nice to get impressions how it works in different apps/games + setting it up and so forth. I still have a long wait until the consumer version is out

1PL-Banzai-1Esk Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Hi guys, any news on your DK's? I ordered on day one but didn't get any shipping info yet. I wonder if we get them this month. Also I am happy that DCS will support Rift , otherwise I would be reduced to playing WT only for my flightsim fix. What will you play when you get your DK's? S.
Matt Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 No info yet, but then i ordered at day 2. I don't assume it will get here this month, but incase it does, i'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm currently planning to test it primarily with RoF (with Tridef), DCS (especially curious if you can read all the instruments in the A-10) and Skyrim (to get an idea if it works in FPS or RPGs, which i'm a bit doubtful about). And then of course the well known OR demos (rollercoaster etc.). Could very well be, that i'll sell it shortly after getting it, if i'm not totally statisfied by it.
JG27_Chivas Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 No news yet on my first day DK2 order. DCS P51/FW190 will take up most of my sim time, and will try WT again with hopes it might tweak more interest this time. I will also be lobbying COD for OR support. Also a new road racing sim Assetto Corsa from Steam. My wife always wanted to drive a race car, so it will be interesting to see her excitement level using the Rift. Her level of excitement will have to be monitored closely.
DD_bongodriver Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I will also be lobbying COD for OR support I wouldn't, it tends to get an icy response, they made it very clear we can forget rift support during the development phase.
Shalimar Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I ordered mine on march 19th 0945. I,m hoping I'm part of the first batch of shipped dk2s. I have starcitizen, warthunder, elite dangerous and il2. Need to get a driving game. Also got an x55. Cannot wait to try out these games in the rift. Although, I found out too late that il2 won't have rift support. I've been called a shill for requesting the il2 devs to implement rift support on this forum, so go figure. It is what it is. Rift support would be nice.
JG27_Chivas Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) I wouldn't, it tends to get an icy response, they made it very clear we can forget rift support during the development phase. The responses I've experienced certainly weren't icy, but BOS and COD have higher priorities, and different funding problems. I believe BOS's Russian developers understand the significance, but I'm not sure that Team Fusion has yet grasped the importance of VR support to remain relevant. I offered to help fund a DK prototype for Team Fusion, with no response with further help from the community. Unfortunately many in the combat flight sim community still can't see how VR will change the market. Non-VR flight sims will become an even more minuscule niche product, while VR capable flight sims should see a significant resurgence. Edited July 15, 2014 by JG27_Chivas 1
DD_bongodriver Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 who is Team Fusion? The volunteer modding group who have been updating Cliffs of Dover. 1
VR-DriftaholiC Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Just ordered mine tonight. Looks like I'm waiting till Sep or later
SR-F_Winger Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 First batch will be delayed until next week due to unfinished SDK. This will only affect the very first batch (5000 preorders). So in fact first and second batch will be shipped during next week together.
1PL-Banzai-1Esk Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I have a dilemma , I can't decide should I keep my Rift pre-order or get this beauty : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-asus-pg278q-rog-swift-monitor-g-sync-144hz-whqd-displayport-2560x1440-350-cd-m2-1ms-2xusb-30-port It would be easier to decide if RoF and BoS had native Rift support. I was waiting for a while for this monitor to be released , but must admit that the price took me by surprise. They are already sold out on pre-orders on OC.uk , and the next batch is expected at the end of August. Anyone using G-Sync out there?
Shalimar Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I,d go with the rift dk2 it's purportedly a completely new experience. I,ve been playing the above mentioned games on a 1080p projector, and a 138" screen, while an amazing experience, I still don't feel like I,m 'in' the plane or space ship. Or like how the following article describes experiencing il2 in the rift. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/09/06/best-of-gamescom-il-2-sturmovik-and-oculus-rift/ I purchased the game after reading the above article without going through the il2 forums. Once I read the forums I realised oculus support for il2 isn't locked in yet. But hope reigns eternal.
JG27_Chivas Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I'd definitely look at buying a G-Sync monitor if the Oculus Rift wasn't available.

The only G-sync monitor out there is a 24", I'm waiting for that one up above or the 4K one from BenQ, but that one probably won't be out till the end of this year. Either monitor will be out before a consumer verison of OR comes out.
Sim Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 As an alternative to G-SYNC - wait for monitors with DisplayPort 1.2a support. They added Adaptive-Sync to that spec: http://techreport.com/news/26451/adaptive-sync-added-to-displayport-spec 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 S! And Adaptive-Sync is not a "single brand only" solution like GSync.
LLv34_Flanker Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 S! The thing is what works under VESA standards works on both AMD and nVidia. They do not need to implement anything
1PL-Banzai-1Esk Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Will adaptive-sync work on existing monitors? Imagine 4K 144Hz G-Sync/Freesync Low Persistence 180 Degrees FOV Oculus Rift. That would be something .
FuriousMeow Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 nVidia drivers already do Adaptive Sync, but mine doesn't work or at least doesn't work with RoF. I haven't tried it with other games.
Toxin1 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Just got an email from Oculus that they are planning on shipping out DK2s to pre-order customers. However, it looks like they are not going to ship to Russia at this time. Not good for our hopes that BOS will add support any time soon.
JG27_Chivas Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I'm sure Jason could get the Russian development team a DK2 if they wanted one. 1
