MiG-3 of the 162nd IAP, 43rd IAD, Leningrad, summer 1942.

Looks to die for and a decent turn of speed at the right altitude were not enough to make the MiG-3 a successful fighter. It was available in numbers when the German invasion of the Soviet Union began but proved to be no match for the Messerschmitt Bf109.  -Claes Sundin-

Thanks Flowbee,

Was getting worried that your weekly product wasn't coming.

Relief, downloaded and flying its colours.

                                  Again Big Thanks !

nice Flowbee... a little question where did you get the reference for that plane? In the book from osprey (Mig3 aces of WWII) it is indicated that it was a plane of the 148th IAP that fought in the Kiev area

I found it first on Pinterest and then in my bookazine "Allied Fighters" by Claes Sundin. I do not have much faith in Osprey as I have found them to be wrong on a number of occasions in the past.

Here is another one...

Would be nice to have the original b/w photo but the Russian stuff is harder to find.

Here but very hard to interpret..

Like I said, I've found Osprey to have different information on a number of times. Then again maybe they are the only ones to get it right. I have alot of faith in Claes Sundin though both in his research and his colour interpretation.

Thanks for the skin . . . . .        the second screenshot looks very much like me   ?

I quite rarely come back to the airfield other than by foot.

But as they say: you should see the other guys!
