How many duds?

Was trying to practice dive bombing runs in a P-47 this evening, believe me I need the practice. Was on Quick mission and none of the bombs I dropped would go off. Rockets worked fine. Getting some feedback on where the bombs landed would be help full, or are there lots of defective bombs in this game?

There are not any dud bombs - probably what you are doing is dropping them from too low an altitude.

There's a built-in safety mechanism that only unlocks the detonator a certain amount of time after you've dropped the bombs. This is to make sure that the aircraft is out of the blast radius before the bomb explodes, as otherwise you'd damage your own plane. Hence, if you want to drop from ground level, you should add a delay to the bombs. That way the detonator can be unlocked right away after release, since there's still the bomb delay that enables your aircraft to get out of the way.

 

A delay of 3sec should work fine 90% of the time in the P-47, but if you drop from *really* low, you should use 5sec.
