Turret mouse control? Is it possible? - SOLVED

EDIT: If you're a trackir user, the problem is caused by not having trackir running while playing the game.

Hi all. Is there a way to control the tank cannon or AA gun (GAZ) using the mouse?
On GAZ, I can only move the gun if I'm *not* in any gunsight view (with those arcade markings). I use T to get gun control, but as soon as I jump to any gunsight, I loose the ability to move it (like nested to the gunsight command doesn't work) and simply start to "look around" when moving mouse. I've applied the mouse axis to direct control of the turret on settings, and removed it from the camera controls and pilot head controls as well, but it is still controlling the view if I jump on gunsight.

Can someone point out what bindings should I use to get mouse control of the turrets/gunners on this game? I see everyone talking about using joystick control for that, so I guess everyone is able to use the mouse?

Without this, I cannot play tanks/AA/gunners on game.

Thanks

Mouse is the default control.

You have to press T and Shift+T. Maybe you are missing the second step, take a look and see if that works.

Hi Jade, unfortunately no. As I mentioned before, the "nested to gunsight" command isn't working as expected (LShift+T).
On GAZ, when I press T, I can move the gun, but as soon as I go to a gunsight (LShf+T), my mouse starts to move my vision around and loses control of the gun. If I return to the "arcade view" (the one with the symbols for firing) I can move the gun again.
Thanks for the answer, anyway.

Have you tried mapping the actions to a different control to see if it's a mapping issue?

Well, I erased anything related to mouse axis to no avail so far. What command do you refer?

I was thinking of the turret nestling and the other one.

As an alternative: If you have pedals and a joystick, i highly recommend using pedals for traverse (lateral turret movement) and joystick for vertical. It's really smooth and very accurate.

The "take control" (T) and "nested to the gunsight" (LSHF+T) are working as intended. What doesn't work anymore is the mouse moving the gun when nested to gunsight. I tested also on planes (gunners) and they also aren't working. I think something really bad happened to my settings, although scrolling the bindings I cannot spot anything wrong. I cleaned the mouse bindings from camera movements, but the game is still using the mouse to change my view when nested. ?

Make sure you have your turret control settings set to the mouse and not the joystick on one of the main setup screens.

I've tried the following so far:

1. Erased the joystick bindings from turret controls (horizontal and vertical) leaving only keys

2. Tried to bind mouse axis to turret controls (direct mode)

Nothing works.

When binding mouse axis to turret controls, the orange signal (double assignment) shows the following:
For the turret control: horizontal (direct mode):

    Turret, gunsight view: view horizontal

    inprb_yaw

    inpmc_yaw

    inpcam_rotate_gopro_yaw

    GUI action: mouse X axis
For the turret control: vertical (direct mode):

    Turret, gunsight view: view vertical

    inprb_pitch

    inpmc_pitch

    GUI action: mouse Y axis

As soon as I enter nested gunsight position, my mouse turns into a "freecam". Keys assigned to turret control (WASD) didn't move the gun also. Right now, I can't play tanks, AA or any gunner positions on game.

EDIT: these turret controls are the ones in "Tank Controls". Couldn't find any bindings for turrets on other tabs.

EDIT 2: problem solved - if you use TrackIR, you NEED to have it running, otherwise, your mouse doesn't work for aiming control.

What if you don't use head tracking?

(yes some of us dinosaurs avoided extinction)

Is the only/(best) solution using the joystick and rudder pedals??

Hi Beebop, I can't explain "why" using TIR gets the mouse working properly and while not using it mouse defaults to camera mode instead of gun control. I don't even know how the game can be aware of TIR if it ain't running at all, but in my case it is what it is.

I tried to clear all references to mouse/joystick on camera controls to no avail. Since I was only testing the GAZ truck, I haven't fired up trackir. Only after several attempts and finally seeing that I couldn't even control the airplane gunners (a thing that I remember I could do before) that I thought about trying with TIR active. You're saying that you're experiencing the same problem without having used TIR at all in the past? Weird that are so few of us reporting this.
