Is it normal for the P48D22 cockpit

I have put here two pictures one of the cockpit of the P47D-22 and  the Other P47D-28.

Is it normal to have a gaping hole in the P47D-22 cockpit where you can see the cables behind the cockpit instrument wall.

On the P47-D28 there is a plate with oxygen related data.

Look up some cockpits of aircraft in museums, they all have similar holes in them, depending on the block number

While you're at it, see if you can find a good photo of the Corsair's cockpit floor. It doesn't have one! You get to see a bunch of the aircraft's fuselage structure between your feet

Fine no problem with that. Repairing the damaged cables if a bullet goes through should be easier ? (whatever the pilot's health situation)

Many of these instrument panels were utilized for more than one production block so yes, if something wasn't called for, the area would typically either be left open or covered over with a plate.
