AusMedic Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 I've been playing IL2 BoD for a few weeks now but as of today it won't launch. I click on the game via steam and also via the folder but it looks like it starts then it just goes back to steam. I've disconnected joystick and it still wouldn't run. I've turned off AV, steam overlay and still nothing. I've updated GPU drivers and nothing. I tried my other Steam account and it still won't launch. IL2 Battle of Stalingrad works fine. My comp specs are fine as I have been playing it. Run out of ideas.
9./JG52_J-HAT Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 (edited) Is BoD Cliffs of Dover? First time I‘ve seen this ? People usually say CloD to it, since it‘s not from the same series as BoS. Try to repair the game in Steam. Another option is to save your .ini files under your My Documents/1C SoftClub/Cliffs of Dover folder and just delete the whole folder. Then start the game and see if it works. Then put your .ini files back in and test again. Make sure you turn off Steam Cloud for the game. Edited September 8, 2021 by 9./JG52_J-HAT 1
danperin Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Have you tried renaming to not be detected/deleting your 'conf.ini' inside "..\My Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover"? Had a similar problem and it was just that.

It is possible your AV is seeing the updated .exe as something different. I would add an exception for the entire game folder in the AV. You could also make sure your windows install is up to date. Also please enable logfile in your configs and then try launching the game and see what the logfile says.
AusMedic Posted September 12, 2021 Author Posted September 12, 2021 I could only fix this by reinstalling the game. So far so good. Thank you all for the tips. 1

Thank you all for the tips. What probably happened is your AV saw the game after the update and didn't recognize it, and therefore blocked it. When you re-installed, by doing so you indicated to the AV this program was ok, and therefore it allowed it. Best to put an exception in your AV for the entire CLIFFS OF DOVER folder to prevent this happening again.
AusMedic Posted September 19, 2021 Author Posted September 19, 2021 Thanks Buzzsaw that makes a lot of sense.
