Na-zdorovie Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 while doing some research to find exact RAL numbers for paint, and changing the ingame ones to correct colours......well some of them i found some interesting facts i didnt know off. namely that the Grey Tiger a lot of us thought was pretty standard was in fact a rarity, the original factory paint was almost black RAL 7021, until later they decided to go with Dunkergelb, or tan. the history was quite interesting but in short the amount of "grey Tigers was actually only around 25! the main reason was even Russia was deemed tropical! so the tan was the prevelant colour

Na-zdorovie Posted September 6, 2021 Author Posted September 6, 2021 probably so as well, it was the standard colour before a lot got really serious :), but still think it funny how Russia was considered tropical
ShampooX Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 (edited) All initial Tiger H1's Heschel/Kassel plant in early 1942 were final coated in the traditional Dunkelgrau. The first batch of combat deployed H1's went to the DAK and got a base Dunkelgleb coat some with a very light non-factory olive green applied as cammo in the field - see Tiger 131. The first Russian Front H1's of the 503 SPA fought around Leningrad in September 42' in Dunkelgrau which was quickly white washed for winter. After that all Tigers were either repainted dunklegelb in the field or off the production line. Any of the dunklegrun or rotbraun cammo seen on later models was all applied by the crews in the field.
