Recently, I revised and updated this mission to work more effectively. Follow F/L Pierre Clostermann and his Tempest flight as they battle for air supremacy against the Luftwaffe over Remagen.

Welcome to IL2 Sturmovik, mysticbrave. Have you got the Focke Wulf 190D9 (Long nose Focke Wulf) collector plane. If you haven't got this aircraft the mission will not work - this could be the problem? I think Jason has a sale on at the moment so you can get it at a good price.

Let me know how you go?

Good mission as usual, a little long as per your usual standard lol.

However, after having shot down 3 enemy planes, having made it back home safely on autopilot, having landed without damage (manually), I was issued a puzzling mission failed. What did I miss?

Thanks ubik_2008,

I'm a bit of a 'history buff' and this mission is based on a mission from Pierre Clostermann's book 'The Big Show' - his flight would have actually flown that distance along with the Luftwaffe jets trying to bomb the bridge at Remagen. There is some controversy whether Clostermann actually flew this mission because it doesn't appear in his flight logs. If you can get hold of a copy of his book it is a very good read - he was a journalist before the War.

I apologize for the 'mission failed' at the end, you obviously had a successful mission. I have to program into missions a 'failure' or 'successfully completed'. I intend stringing together Clostermann's missions into campaigns which will have success or failures.

Fair enough, no prob.

As to the book, I know it. As a matter of fact a Remagen mission is mentioned in the book, but the day is not specified. Therefore every date between March 7, when the bridge was captured, and the next 7-10 days, is a good guess for the mission.

Looking forward to a Clostermann campaign then!
