View different planes on start screen

Is there a way to change the plane shown on the intro screen without playing a mission?

I tried to go to quick mission, change plane, skin, armament load and then back to main screen without actually playing the mission, but it doesn't work.

Nope. The loading screen is chosen at random from a list of images. There's no way to change this.

 

(Although I suppose you could find out where the images are stored, and then replace them all with the image of your choice. You would need to fly with "Mods On" though.)

I think he mean the plane showing up in the hangar view, which by default is the IL-2 mod.1942, unless you play a mission in SP/MP with a different plane

Oh, the hangar screen. That's the last plane you flew. Works after restart too, so when I boot the game in a minute, I should see a Fw190 A5. Although if you fly offline, it defaults to the IL-2 like you said.

 

There's no way to change that plane without first flying it.

It also has tanks and AAA trucks if that's what you used last.  Why my halftrack is in a hangar I don't know, but there it is.

If you can't shoot them out of the sky, the best bet is to wait in ambush in their den.
