Hundreds hours in FC multiplayer , never saw something like that. 2

If it was a Piano hinge type maybe it would jam...but I'm not sure how many primary control surfaces of that era were piano hinges. My guess is a Push-pull rod type could get borked if a shell destroyed a pivot point or somehow a pulley destroyed that is crucial for routing a cable to get proper motion/travel. I will add though, I've seen aircraft come in with totally frozen aileron bearings, and the pilots didn't notice. it's possible that in an emergency a foreign object could be cleared by deforming the skin of the control surface/wing interface to at least get some movement. or in the case of a fabric surface it just tears the covering. personally I think broken rods and broken cables should definitely be a thing....but jammed not as much. A "Lite" solution would be to model in limited travel 1
US41_Low Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Literal arcade hit points would be better than the current damage model. Zero chance I buy FC 2 or 3 until DM is fixed. Have a bit of respect for your customer base. 2 1
US103_Rockwell Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 (edited) The current damage model in flying circus is lackluster at best. Taking a single bullet to a wing and having it fall off, or a control surface being shot out and spiraling to the ground is not fun for anyone. Nor does it have any historical basis, there are only a handful of stories in a sea of historical accounts of this occurring. For one account of a single bullet jamming a rudder in place or a plane ripping its wing in a low g pull because of slight damage, there are hundreds of accounts of planes being literal bullet sponges. It has been over a year since this change was enacted, the fact it’s still around is beyond me. Slowly, the player base is dying away solely because of the damage model. Its upsetting that the damage model is not the number one priority for development, even with flying circus 2 being in development and puchasable Edited September 1, 2021 by US103_Rockwell 6

Much as I'm up for new modules, planes and features, the excitement is taken out of them when you realise that they'll just be subject to the same frustrating, boring DM. I'd much rather wait years for FC3 and new WW1 collector planes, and have the DM fixed ASAP, than vice versa. 8

Developing 3 packs at the time, covid, lack of coders and I am sure a lot of unknown problems . I am not saying devs are not doing anything. I am saying they are now in the mid's of high ambitions nightmare. All these things to do with coving restriction. And people say they refuse to fix, are there no shame? I will not buy into anymore ww1 stuff, because I doubt it ever will be a priority. I am not doing it to "punish" developers. I have nothing but respect for what they are doing I agree, they fell victim to scope creep. Time should have been allocated to correct wrinkles in the DM update they did over a year ago. Really all jason has to do is reassure the community and just do a temporary hotfix and this will all blow over. remember the 109 concrete tail? do something like that. people have already developed mods for .50's anyways 2
