Chilli_40 Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Absolutely love this sim, but I do need some input please. I'm using a Oculus Quest 2 with a Ryzen 5 3rd Gen 3600X (3.80 GHz) 32GB DDR4 3000mhz NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB GDDR6 Windows 10 pro 1TB SSD 500W power supply I am getting no higher than 45 fps and am seeing it drop to as low as 20fps and extremely choppy when there are multiple planes in battle. game settings screen res 1280x720 UI scale 100% Shadows quality Medium Mirrors simple Distant Landscape detail normal Canopy reflect normal Horizon draw 40Km landscape filter Sharp Terrain roughness Medium grass quality off Cloud quality Medium Antialiasing type FXAA ?? Target fps Off Antialiasing 4 Gamma correction 1 SSAO checked HDR checked sharpen checked Use 4K Textures Checked Is this what I should expect with my pc's specs or am I doing something wrong? The graphics in game are certainly not what you would call crisp or clear with current settings. Thanks for input or advice on this, just trying to wrap my head around what I should be expecting form my system.
Hoss Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 I did not watch any of the vids but I'm sure you will find something you can use, or better define the search paramaters on YT to find what you really want. Hopefully someone on here has a wiki, or knows of one someone started that is Using Oculus VR in this game and can help you out. You could also search Oculus Q2 set up for DCS... seeing as how that game is a resource sponge... Good Luck and let us know what you find out and start a wiki or something.. Cheers Hoss https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=setting+up+oculus+q2+for+il+2+sturmovik+great+battles+
Chilli_40 Posted August 19, 2021 Author Posted August 19, 2021 it's really weird when I load most of the setting recommendations I see on youtube or other it either total crashes the game or has no effect. I tried overclocking the the GPU but no matter what I did with MSI Afterburner the card became unstable. I just ran 3DMARK to see if something was not right results: Total score #7563 GPU score #7614 CPU score #7289
354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 That system just isn't going to drive a quest 2, since it requires more resources due to the compression latency than a reverb g2. Start with the two stickies at the top of the topic list, but don't expect too much. You would do just fine with a rift s though.
Chilli_40 Posted August 20, 2021 Author Posted August 20, 2021 Awesome, that's what I needed to know, thank you for the advice.
=TF=Kaiza Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 I have a similar spec PC (GTX 1070) and its normally pinned at 72 fps on the Q2. I find it very usable. I use the best spotting settings here in this pinned thread:
Chilli_40 Posted August 21, 2021 Author Posted August 21, 2021 Thank you Kaiza, for the info I'll give them a try. 10 hours ago, Kaiza said: I have a similar spec PC (GTX 1070) and its normally pinned at 72 fps on the Q2. =TF=Kaiza Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 No probs. I think your AA setting will be the killer.
MilitantPotato Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 You should be using open composite with oculus headsets. https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR Also this has some oculus specific tweaks for VR
