It stopped working- no idea why. Is there some setting in Il2 that  I may have accidentally turned on that is getting in the way?

It works in DCS, but when I release the POV had to go back to normal front view, it places me above the fuselage.

Hm. Any ideas guys? I went over the instructions with a fine tooth comb, and tried installing a more recent version, but no luck!

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Try to put "game mode" and "position compensation" on "Auto" in the options menu of VRNS.

Any luck finnster? I am having the same problem.

OK I have it solved thanks NobiWan.

My Game Mode was set to 'Auto' already, and Position Compensation was on 'Standing Mode' which I believe is default?

Anyway, when I select anything other than 'Standing Mode' in the Position Compensation menu, and then re-select 'Standing Mode' again, it seems to clear it.

Thanks for a great mod.

Oh, this could be a bug with reading the config. I'll look into it. Thanks for finding the solution!

Sorry Nobi, that might have been a red herring. I had the same issue tonight and it would not clear with the above procedure this time.

I'll keep having a play.

@J2_NobiWan

I have a Quest 2 and the mod has been running really well up until recently when it suddenly stopped and I cannot work out why. I can see SteamVR is registering the button press as the view flicks 30deg off for a split second but then returns to normal.

I notice you discuss the alignment of the centered view in SteamVR as a potential issue in the main thread.

I do not seem to be able to get my SteamVR and Oculus views to align perfectly. Steam VR will always centre 30cm left to my Oculus view. Could this be causing my issue?

For instance, if I sit in my seat, reset Oculus view, then launch SteamVR, I will be offset from SteamVR centre. I then re-centre my SteamVR view to reset to SteamVR centre. if I then push a NeckSafer manual rotation button, the view flicks and is then recentred 30cm to the right (which appears to be my default Oculus view). This also happens if I use the Oculus button to recentre my Oculus view while in Steam VR.

It seems impossible to align them, Oculus always wants to be to the right of SteamVR centre. Even if physically get up and stand in the middle of SteamVR centre and then recentre Oculus, SteamVR moves to my left again.

Could this misalignment between Oculus centre and SteamVR centre be my issue here?

Cheers!

@Kaiza Does this happen in other games as well, or just in IL-2? Can you test it in another game please?

Hi FW, the situation I described above is actually just sitting in SteamVR with no game loaded. If I load Il2 it behaves the same way.

I haven't tried NeckSafer with DCS as I don't have it installed, but I will give it a try.

Cheers

That answers my question already, no need to test in DCS, I'm only interested in the VR part of IL-2, thank you :)

I found that it won't work for me if both my WMR portal and SteamVR are not 100% aligned. So, if it stops working for some reason or just does "flashes" instead of rotating, I just re-center my headset in the WMR portal and then also re-center the steam standing/seated position. Restart everything in order of WMR->SteamVR->VRNS and generally all good.

I have resolved my 'flicking' issue in the Q2, but I went down the full reinstall route. Reinstalled SteamVR and Oculus, deleted Necksafer, re-downloaded and configured. All works now (but my views in SteamVR/Oculus will still not align).

Unfortunately I am now getting crashes...

Guys,

VRNecksaver also injects openvr_api.dll. So it is incompatible to AMD's FSR. If you use AMD's FSR, you cannot use vrnecksaver.

This is not correct, just because it contains openvr_api.dll in its installation folder does not mean it is hijacking it.

BTW, I just tried it and it works using the FSR modified openvr_api.dll.

If it's any help this is the mode I run it as, which doesn't try to register itself as a steamvr overlay (although I doubt running it as an overlay would prevent it from working unless something is up with steamvr's configuration):

Okay, thanks for the input. Made an assumption too quickly, mea culpa. Are you 100% positive? Got to check it in debug mode if the cycle remains.

Do you know what's wrong with Vrnecksaver by any chance? Tried that suggestion you made, to no avail.

I am 100% positive that both NS and FSR were active at the time, yes.

I normally don't use NS but I just thought I'd check since I got it installed. I tried both methods of controlling it (button and autorotation) and it seemed to work as expected Wish I could be of more help.

These are the other detection/correction/whatever settings I got in the .cfg:

  "GameMode": "Auto",
  "AppMode": "Background",
  "PosCompensation": "never",

It always remains in "standing" mode.

All this is with a G2 using steam beta and NS is v2.08.
