GOA_Karaya_VR Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 (edited) Hi pilots I dont have enough experience in this, and maybe with some help i can reborn from the dead my CH Yoke for some bombing missions, i dont know what glue or material use for attach again one of the posts that retains one of the axis springs ,is a very strong plástic but i doubt that superglue can support the tension of the spring.. I thank any help or comment ?. S Edited August 16, 2021 by GOA_Firebird_VR
Nadelbaum Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Not sure about the structure, but it looks like it is hollow and there's a hole in the bottom. How about adding a metal rod as a support together with some strong glue? You'll probably find metal rods of different diameters in a local appliance store. A bit of imagination and I'm sure it'll be as good as new! 1
cardboard_killer Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Maybe make a mold of it, add a base to the mold to fit the hole, and create a duplicate with resin. Sand the base down to fit the hole, glue it with epoxy. Note, I bought the honeycomb yoke to use with the P-38 and bombers, but it was too much a PITA to switch from stick to yoke, especially since I rarely fly bombers or the P-38.
Soarfeat Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 I agree with Nadelbaum about using a dowel in the middle and then using something like a good 5 minute epoxy to secure the joint of the two broken plastic halves. I have had similar breaks with plastic just as this and have even just used a good wooden dowel ( I do not believe you could over stress the joint even with a good wooden dowel.) It should be a pretty easy and doable fix---- good luck !!!! -- sf --
Sokol1 Posted September 6, 2021 Posted September 6, 2021 You can't fill this hole inside, because is need for fit the screw. Glue the broken piece with CA glue in place, then add a strong bi-component Epoxy putty (e.g. JB Weld) outside. I have fixed some these sticks tower in this way.
