Hohenadler Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 (edited) Just throwing it out there for the future of FC/Sturmovik series: would it be cool if someone outside or inside the community created a career or campaign set during the fall of Imperial Russia during the Russian civil war with a few new airplanes to boot or at least skins? it seems that time period between 1917-1923 was significant for Russia and not to mention a significant time period for aviation design and war tactics connecting Flying Circus with World War Two/the Great patriotic war and tying it up with a nice bow. Of course this would happen after all of the volumes have been completed for Flying Circus and whatever next projects they have planned. It would be cool to learn some history using this sim. [F.Circus]FrangibleCover Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 I believe there's a server running a special 1920 Polish-Soviet War right now, or at least there has been recently. 2
Mtnbiker1998 Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I can think of a few modules I'd rather see before this (including but not limited to the Pacific, lol) but I could see this being pretty cool, as like you said it would bridge the gap between FC and the WW2 titles, making everything fit together a bit more cohesively. Might be fun!
JGr2/J5_Mueller Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 The J5 Flugpark will be running the 1920 Polish Soviet War mission this week for final testing, concluding with a one day tournament style mission with large organized sides, a poll should be up soon to vote which side you want to fly on and act as a registraion at the same time. 1
PaulTheSalty Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 The Russian Civil War would make an exciting setting for this sim. If not an entire module, it could possibly end up being a great multiplayer scenario. I’ve been playing the test matches for the Polish Soviet War (which is excellent by the way, highly recommended joining!) and it gave me a much deeper appreciation for how much can be created in game. I am no expert on Russian history, but I believe the Russian Civil War and Polish Soviet War overlapped. It may be possible to use some existing aircraft and skins created for the current event that J5_Mueller mentioned as well new white army skins for the imperialists to put something together.

That is what inspired this post. It would be cool if there was a single-player module with planes that was used by the Freikorps in 1919 which would include the Junkers D1 and Junkers Cl1 along with some Imperial Russian planes. Here is a link to the targeted time period.
JGr2/J5_Mueller Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 yes that would be cool, when the planes come, however this 1920 scenario it about as cool as it gets with the plane set we now have available, more campaign flyers should give the multiplayer experience a try.

The only issue with that is my skill set in this flight sim is sub-par and I lack the proper setup to really be effective and to get the setup is outside of my budget. PaulTheSalty Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Hohenadler, you should hop on the Flugpark discord! It’s a great place to find wingmen. Many would be happy to help you sharpen those skills. Anybody can improve as long as they try. There’s people of all ages on this sim, and they use all kinds of hardware setups. Some of the best play on normal monitors and $30 joysticks. Hope to catch you in the skies! 1
Hohenadler Posted August 18, 2021 Author Posted August 18, 2021 Based on the name of J5 Flugpark I am deducing that is a German server no? 1 hour ago, PaulTheSalty said: Hohenadler, you should hop on the Flugpark discord! PaulTheSalty Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 The squadron that operates the server flies German aircraft primarily. They have members from all over I believe. The server is all in English. Here is a link to a really cool website they also built that automatically tracks stats of all the players that play on their server. stats.jasta5.org:8000/en/?tour=44
