lwalter Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I know that German planes usually have some level of automation, like Bf 109 E7+, FW 190, etc... but I tried several P47s and P51s and moving the joystick axis I assigned to "propeller pitch" doesn't change anything. I tried the corresponding keys Shift 1, 2, 3, etc... and nothing moves. I thought it was just an animation issue, but the gauge for RPM for example in P51 doesn't move either. I don't know what's going on.
DD_Friar Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 yes, a lot of planes have RPM control. The German are all automatic so nothing to worry about, just keep the throttle under about 1.2 ATA and they run all day. For Allied planes like the spitfire its throttle on about 7lb boost and RPM at 26 The crib sheets mod that replace the girl photo are well worth getting hold of. They tell you the settings for take-off, cruise and emergency etc.
lwalter Posted August 14, 2021 Author Posted August 14, 2021 thanks but how come neither my key binding nor my axis binding have any effect on the RPM? Is there something special to do? I also tested mixture, both axis and keys => nothing changes the only one I can control is "power" Is there a setting somewhere that allows you to control also RPM and mixture? ======= found the problem for RPM: somehow "complex engine management" setting was off however, still no luck on the mixture...
DD_Friar Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 German planes do not have mixture control - its all automatic.
lwalter Posted August 15, 2021 Author Posted August 15, 2021 I agree for the German planes, but what about the P47 and the P51? These are the ones I'm testing for mixture control and it doesn't work even after checking the "complex engine management".
No_85_Gramps Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 In addition to the "Engines Mixture Control" set bindings in the "Engine 1 Mixture Control" and the "Engine 2 Mixture Control". I have them set on an axis control and the 47, 51, and 38 all work.
lwalter Posted August 15, 2021 Author Posted August 15, 2021 I have checked my settings several times and I haven't found any setting for Engine1 or Engine 2 mixture, but only mixture. Where am I supposed to find a separate mixture for each engine? We're talking about IL2 1946, right?
DD_Friar Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 Oh sorry - I did not see the thread section title - I was referring to Great Battles - not flown 46' in years now.

lwalter Posted August 15, 2021 Author Posted August 15, 2021 No worries to both of you, and thanks for trying to help! So far, I have power and RPM axis working. That's already great. Mixture is not a big deal, at least for now. Maybe somebody who's still playing 1946 would be able to help someday.
352nd_Wheels Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 (edited) The mixture Control is a mixed bag and is not modeled on all the planes. While I agree it should be adjustable on the P-47 and P-51 it seems from my QMB testing that the game, v412-2, has not modeled mixture control with those planes. If you open the QMB and choose the I-16 Type 24, 1939 and fly it in one of those QMB missions you can test to confirm that your Controls setup for mixture actually functions.
