Checking six in a P-39 in VR.

Hi all,

Not sure if it is the right subforum, but anyway. I have been flying Cobra lately, and I noticed that it is incredibly difficult to check six in VR. Very thick frame of the canopy blocks everything on the sides and above. When not using VR, it is possible to "cheat" and assign quick views deep inside the rear part of the canopy which improves the situation somehow. But in VR it is impossible to put one's head there. How to deal with this situation?

Fly with a wingman, weave slightly at all times so you can check behind, and pray.

There is no simple fix.

do a search on a mod called "neck saver", or something like that.  It could be what you're looking for.  I'm not using it at the moment, but others have reported good success with it.

Also, love seeing another P-39 pilot.  I've love flying the Cobra too!  Great bird!

Situational Awareness. Just like the real pilots did.

Thank you for the replies! I am aware of the mod, but turning my head back is not the problem. The problem is that when I turn it back, I feel like I am watching through a keyhole lol. And if you put two blind men in a pair, they usually don't see any better :) Or maybe Cobras should always fly with at least one Yak-9 in formation.

Flying Cobra is as much fun as the challenge: managing the fragile engine and aiming the 37mm potato shooter to name a few. But it all can be overcome eventually, except the abysmal back view. Even 109 with the headrest is not as bad.

Yes, it works during a formation flight, but once a fight starts, it is usually less helpful.
