Sure this has been asked before, but can't find it: Do gunners require FC, or just GB?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered somewhere, but can't seem to find it. Do gunners in multiplayer require the specific plane to fly, or can they hop in the seat if they have any of the Great Battles games?

they can jump to any plane which have place for observer/gunner
