YoYo Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 (edited) Ok, Tobruk is still on my "shelf" because I'm waiting for VR mode ? (is the only way I fly) but I follow everything that happens with this title. I see that trueSky system incoming to CloD, nice and good point. This system has many advantages but also few minuses. I have trueSky in P3D and I noticed on CloD preview screenshots that no any clouds on high level, like cirrus for examples. This is example of beautiful cirrus clouds in current version: This is example from preview: I checked all your screenshots (with preview of trueSky) and on any I cant find any cloud on high level what is strange ... As I know - trueSky offers (in addition to the overall lighting effect) volumetric clouds (like in Prepar3D, so low/max to medium level clouds ) but it doesnt offer 2D cirrus clouds (like in P3D, the same). Cirrus clouds in Prepar3Dv5 are from default software (or REX addon if you use it), so if its true please don't forget to add your current cirrus clouds to your trueSky system in the sim. Its possible and maybe you have it in your plans. I'm just writing about what I noticed but these high clouds from the current CloD/Tobruk version are just great and it would be a shame to waste this work. So truSky for low level, volumetric clouds, high clouds - yours 2D/3D. Pls think about it . Regards! Edited August 8, 2021 by YoYo 1

But the developers now did not show the complete sky, not mainly in the background, but clouds in low or lower positions, what they have developed. In the old CoD, it's like scoops of cotton candy(pictures). And as far as I know, these are only examples of work in progress and not final work. Edited August 10, 2021 by Buffo002

Climb up to approx. 30,000 ft and you'll see when you pass through them. That was ok with the original game since no aircraft could ever climb to its actual real ceiling because the engine/supercharger/prop modeling was so bugged, (approx. 23,000 ft was the limit) but now with aircraft climbing to correct heights we need to create proper 3D clouds. Those will come with trueSKY. We appreciate your patience as we work on adapting the software to the CLIFFS engine. What you are seeing now is Alpha. 11

Ok, thx for reply, so pls to remember about the high clouds on 30K ft (like present formation of cirrus). In my opinion those 2D clouds on this level are nice also, and as you noticed, It is not so easy to reach this level, they always look great from the bottom.

Right now DCS has spent at least six months limited to mainly using presets and only a couple of layers of clouds - without dynamic generation, dynamic weather etc. I'm sure that it will take a while for TF to implement features like multiple cloud types and layers... so we should be patient. 1
