Majakowski Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Hello I have downloaded the rearming/refueling script from Air Tactical Assault Group. When choosing "Rearm all" option I noticed the bombs arming toggle switches to off and dropping the bombs leaves them (and me, lol) intact. I have a key assigned for arming/disarming bombs but it is to no effect. Did I miss something or is that functionality broken? I noticed that problem in the Vickers Wellington plane.
56RAF_Stickz Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Never tried rearm wellie but: if I remember correctly, the wellington 1a has no bomb arming switch. The 1c with the newer bomb sight has nose and tail switches but they are not selectable (and appear fixed in the down position). In this situation, it may well be, that similar to a beaufighter which has no bomb arming selection, that rearm will not work. Rearm seems to load bombs which are not armed and there is no way to arm them on these planes. Us brits are tough, loading unarmed bombs is for wimps. 1
Majakowski Posted August 7, 2021 Author Posted August 7, 2021 Ok then. Well, at least the game looks good.
Peachy9 Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 I am guessing that because the bombs in game are armed differently depending on whether they are axis or allied that he script may not work correctly for Allied bombs. I could be wrong but i dont think you have to arm Allied bombs in Cliffs - so the script may be out of sync with that. (My understanding is that most UK bombs were mechanically armed by nose spinners. German bombs were mainly electrically armed by passing a charge into the fuse. So bombs were loaded armed onto Allied aircraft (with a wire securing the spinner removed by armourers prior to take-off) and the type of fuse determined if there was a delay in detonation. I am guessing any arming switch on an Allied plane is related to the electrical release mechanism? On German planes bombs have to be armed electrically.)
