more servers

I see some good servers, fin virtual pilots seems like number one. other than that things are limited. I remember hyper lobby  lots of servers bigger community 700 plus on per night.  I'm back in to the sim as life has calmed down and see very small community now. are there more servers on steam or is there something like hyper lobby

There is nothing more on steam than without steam.

And for a 'server' you'll need someone to

- prepare the mission

- have the ability to host it

- and in case permanently available to have a server running

- - having the needed hardware

- - having a good internet upload rate

- - or having a dedicated server somewhere (very expensive if the needed hardware is booked)

And about the needed hardware:

It's not the number of cores that matters

it's the core speed

I've tried to host missions a long time ago on a rented server
having 16 cores but a low speed (less then 2 gHz) for each core.

No way to host complex missions due to core speed....

The issue isn't the lack of servers. 

There literally isn't enough players to fill them. 

When FVP had a second server it was very rare to see CB and both FVP servers have population. 

It's an unfortunate reality. I don't know if its just because there are somethings in iL2 people don't like or if the niche is losing that many players.

there is planty of servers, but most are empty.

no lobby outside game, also playing on steam or web version is same, you see all servers,

if you have mods on you can only see servers that enable mods

 

its summer time so less players is normal

also i remenber 1000+ on HL, but there was no WT back then so "arcade" players had no where to go, atleast half of servers were icons and ouside views and padlocks enabled, so when you look at it its not that bad with competition you have now.

on peak times last year i remenber 550-650 players on servers on sundays ~8pm gmt, and 90% played on no icons no outside view and no padloc servers... 

and you dont have lobby like HL to see how many are just waiting to join servers and so on when popular servers were full...

 

there is planty servers but players wait to get in on popular ones

 

now it looks emptyer but when summer ends i expect numbers to again be around 500 atleast, and to me this is ok considering game is mostly with no arcade players that go to WT

 

i for one go and play WT tanks more and more and noth MP here, here i stick more to SP after some fixes got placed here that changed game, in SP i can adjust things how i see fit and use mods that fix problems that were miss how i see them, that do impact MP play here.

Hello, S! To all..

 

As someone mention before, the problem is the lack of players to fill the servers, i personally have my issues that i prefer to reserve about the simulator.. etc, but at last on my Squad 80% of the group are migrating to other simulators, for now Finnish Virtual Pilots are the #1 server that offers Air and Ground operations with a good number of players, its the more atractive choice for fliying in MP, some of my team mates still fliying there.

 

What makes me curious is thinking about the future, 2 or 3 years ago we have servers like Wings of Liberty, Knights of the Air, and Combat Box in their beginings full 24/7.. now i see a fast slope in multiplayer numbers, and this are not a good sign.

so are there different servers for battel of Britten and the other titles or ww1 I don't see them on the dog fight list maybe I'm blind

I like Africa  battel of Britten early war how do I find folks doing servers like that sorry Im new here

Flying Circus Flugpark 1 is the main WWI server AFAIK.

 

The Battle of Britain is part of a different game, IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Blitz. Africa is part of a DLC for that game, called IL-2 Sturmovik: Desert Wings - Tobruk.

 

There'll probably be 'Battle of Britain 1941' MP servers for GBS once the Normandy map is released, though, seeing as the Bf-109 E-7, Hurricane Mk.II, Spitfire Mk.Vb, He-111 H-6, and Ju-88 A-4 are reasonably close to their Battle of Britain predecessors and are already in the game. IIRC there's also a North Africa GBS mod that turns Kuban into a desert and has seen some MP usage. Neither option is as accurate or immersive as CloD (though I might be biased seeing as I'm a dev for that game), but they're still options.

 

Normandy is worth getting regardless IMO, chasing V1s in a Spitfire Mk.XIV is going to be fun as hell. Not to mention the Ar-234.

Thanks so    I cant see servers that have tobruk or cliffs of dover if i only have il2 BOS correct?

 if i get those add ons then can i see those maps?

Nvor - it's a different game. Not Great Battles. It's not an add-on to what you have here. IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Blitz and  IL-2 Sturmovik: Desert Wings - Tobruk are a separate thing.

when I go to buy Cliff of dover and tobruk it says i need steam but i thought I didn't have to log into steam to play those. also it seems they do not build onto BOS like the other versions. so I would have to lode a new stand alone game with COD and Desert wings?

Yes, COD and Desert wings are separate, standalone games.

You will need to install Steam to download these games.
