I recently switched to W10 along with a computer ‘s update.

Since that sad day I can’t use 1946 anymore.

Is there a way to use again that beloved game?

Hi,

in generally it works well, so you will find a solution.

I don' have an desktop computer available for the next 2 weeks so I can't help directly.

Here a link to the same problem:

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/35491-il-2-1946-wont-run/

You could ask your question in the SAS sub forum for beginners mentioned in this link.

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,204.0.html

And you could try out the as an alternative the steam version.

Best regards

Thank you.

I posted my question in the SAS forum.

I’m just surprised that I could be the only one to have this problem...

Just one idea:

if you have just updated your windows to 10 you may have some old drivers of your graphic card.

(create first a system restore point before changing the drivers)

And check if the graphic resolution in the il2 conf.ini is listed in  your computers availabe resolutions.

Best regards

I've run on XP, 7, and 10 without any magic. I'm currently running boxed and Steam versions on 10. It should sort. Good luck.

Well, ok. But what did you do for that?

I tried many manners but without success so far

Salut biloute, check out the IL2 1946 exe's compatibility mode. For me it is on Windows XP service pack2 and it works perfectly.

Salut min chtio, Thanks.

I’ll check that

Since it ran without issue, I didn't do anything that I can recall-well, I AM in the habit of making sure that the game detected my monitor's resolution. That habit goes back a dozen years, so I may have checked/fixed that without recalling. Also, TD added many modern resolutions to the base game which should make that check unnecessary. You should still check it though.

I have it running on Win 10 64 bit.  Not steam version.

Make a folder on your C drive but not in programs.  Call it whatever you like. For example 1946.  Remember do not create the folder in Programs.

Install the game to the new folder.  You may still need to follow the compatibility suggestion.

I had some issues, found this video and since then have installed the game no problem. Yes, this is win 7, but, it worked well on 10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJB_WKizV-4.

I have copied my game dvd to a usb.  Followed the video.  So much faster install.

Good luck

The video gives me a black screen with no sound after one minute and so.

anyway, I will follow your advice and reinstall it on non program folder.
