For the most massive one of them, the Battle of Normandy, a number of significant results were achieved during the last few weeks. For instance, the work on the Normandy map objects, including the ones needed for temporary ports in the beachhead area, German fortifications, unique city buildings, and stationary radars are nearly complete. We can already show you some of them in the sim: .................. In addition, we started the final production stage of P-51B we're creating for the Battle of Normandy. We want to deliver this famous and long-awaited plane to all BoN customers as soon as possible. .................. There are good news about Flying Circus Vol. II as well -the Western Front map is progressing well and we plan to show it in our Dev Blog soon, while today we can show you two coming airplanes at once: early SPAD 7.C1 with 150 HP engine and two-seater bomber Airco D.H.4: .................. And finally, Sd.Kfz.10/5 with 20mm Flak 38, the second player controllable mobile AA gun, is nearly complete as well. Here are its screenshots in the sim: .................. Asgar Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 (edited) Can’t wait to flak some people. The 10/2 looks amazing I love all the detail work that went I to both or the AA vehicles first useful comment Edited July 30, 2021 by Asgar 1
Aurora_Stealth Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Mulberry harbour looks very cool ? Flak and its crew looking the part also! 1 18
40plus Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Oh my goodness! This DD has certainly been worth the wait! Just epic!
No_Face Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 The Sd.Kfz.10/5 is too beautiful, I can't wait to put my hands on it. The more time passes, the more I look forward to seeing Normandy. The radars are cool. 1
DN308 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Nice ones, and more than welcome. is there an ETA yet concerning the Mosquito ?
Chief_Mouser Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Great DD. Waiting with bated breath for the update...
catchthefoxes Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 i see we get some bottle rockets with our SPAD!!! thanks devs!!!! ?
Avimimus Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Le Prieur!! It'll be interesting to see if the ballistics have been updated at all for FC2 - first time we'll have it! The detail on those models is making me feel tempted by a BoB (rather than a 1945 East scenario). I see Chain Home and I somehow want to grab a Ju-87B...
Jade_Monkey Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Love the new objects! Also happy to see those hills in the landscape for the chain home radar!

Pict Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Mulberry harbor is looking good. Recce runs over them with the Arado will be a first in any combat flight sim. I wonder if PLUTO will make an appearance... 1 hour ago, Asgar said: Can’t wait to flak some people. You didn't but by being second you beat everyone else or me at least
Cybermat47 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 (edited) Looking great! I have to admit that I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the Mustang, so I'm looking forward to using the B/C model. 48 minutes ago, Enceladus said: Is that a Liberty class ship there? ? Looks like it. One of the most criminally underrated ships of the war. Edited July 30, 2021 by Cybermat47 spelling 1
fergal69 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 (edited) Can't wait to try out the half track as a vehicle for driving to see how it compares to a truck with wheels or a tank with tracks. Mulberry Harbour looks great from ground level & level of detail is impressive seeing as in a plane you won't be that close. Edited July 30, 2021 by fergal69
Missionbug Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Some good stuff there guys, thank you very much for build update, really appreciated. The beach objects looks great but what about people, exactly how much detail are we likely to see on one of the most crowded group of beaches known to history? We appreciate the invasion will not be all out as such but without soldiers in landing craft, guns manned on ships and infantry moving into position things will look a little odd even from a fast moving aircraft, spooky even without people just empty beach, any thoughts please development team, just what might we expect? Looking forward to that Mustang I have to say, always proffered that version to the later models, nor sure why, the flak truck looks dangerous. Take care and be safe. Wishing you all the very best, Pete. 1 2

I would strongly recommend assuming that the invasion will have <1/50th the number of ships and no infantry at all (and possibly no tanks). I have a feeling that it might be good for the devs to start regularly messaging that the invasion won't involve the largest fleet in history with ~7000 ships and tens of thousands of infantry rendered on screen. Never assume the end-user is reasonable in their expectations! P.S. I'm not suggesting you're unreasonable to dream of infantry - but I doubt they'll be able to provide them given how hard it would be to provide even a fraction of the landing craft involved. 10 minutes ago, fergal69 said: Can't wait to try out the half track as a vehicle for driving to see how it compares to a truck with wheels or a tank with tracks. Indeed. It'll be interesting to see how different it is. Maybe if TC does well enough for a sequel, and they add a few targets like machine-gun nests (or infantry dug into buildings) a half-track with an anti-tank gun or field gun could be justified. Who knows? Edited July 30, 2021 by Avimimus

Yes, you are probably right there but it will certainly lack any kind of immersive feeling. Even a few days following the invasion there would be men and machines still coming ashore and fighting in the local towns and villages so me and possibly many others are curious as to how it will be done. Take care and be safe. Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

It might be good to have temporary camps modelled (e.g. tents, marshalling areas)... and plenty of smoke from burning buildings or wreckage on the horizon. I'm honestly not sure they could do more than that though! At least not in real time rendering. 7 minutes ago, Missionbug said: Take care and be safe. Wishing you all the very best, Pete. You too! Tent objects already exist in game so it should be doable (technically from FC, but tents are tents). 1

The P-51 B/C (the only difference was where the plane was built) was the first of the Merlin-engined Mustangs. It started arriving in England in late 1943 and was widely used by both the RAF and USAAF to the war's end. Carried 4 MGs and was modified with a better canopy called the Malcolm Hood (Steve Hinton has said the original framed canopy sucks ?). Also had its engine boosted with higher octane fuel around mid-1944, making it a real hotrod. 1 hour ago, Avimimus said: Indeed. It'll be interesting to see how different it is. percydanvers Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Not sure why, but I've always liked the look of the razorback Mustang. Really looking forward to flying it!

It’s also worth noting that two different engines were used in the P-51B, V-1650-3 and -7 that had different supercharger gearing. The earlier -3s had higher critical altitudes, while the later -7 offered slightly more power below critical altitude. Kits were produced to convert the -3 into a -7 and that was gradually standardized as the war went on. Hopefully we’ll see both engine options. 1 2
ST_Catchov Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Nice to see an update on FC2. That DH.4 is looken real cool. 1
pilotpierre Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I think we are extremely lucky to have so many DD’s throughout the year, it’s like a never ending child’s Xmas day anticipation. A Nonny Mouse
BladeMeister Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Nice DD today. Keep up the good work Gents! I am looking forward to that P51 B/C Stang. S!Blade<><
Manstein16 Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 The Airco was the first model airplane that I built as a kid, and those screenshots reminded me of what a pain it was gluing the struts in place. I love seeing so much detail from a flight sim! I never thought that I’d see my old model planes come to life like this. 1
