[80 years ago today] "• The Macchi MC-202 [sic] Folgore enters service. Considered superior to the Hurricane and P-40 and equal to the Spitfire V, it is hampered by its weak armament of two 12.7mm machine guns. Two 7.7mm guns will be added later, but will often be removed again due to their relative ineffectiveness and to save weight."

That plane had a pretty clever way of mitigation of roll due to propeller torque: one wing was slightly longer than the other.
