Should my monitor have two VR screens when I launch game?

Hello all,

New to VR. HP Reverb G2 is my headset.

When I launch the game in Steam VR my monitor will have two windows with what my headset is looking at... This does not happen when I am in DCS so I was wondering if this is normal or if I could get rid of it to get better performance

Thanks in advance for any feedback to my question.

Some people lower the resolution of the images displayed on the monitor by changing IL-2 resolution in the game, this won't affect the display in your G2. Personally I don't find that this has much bearing on performance, I still have mine at 1920 x 1080. I believe that you can stop displaying IL-2 on your monitor by altering a setting in Steam VR, but I've never done this, perhaps someone else can help if you want to do this. Maybe it's screen mirror or something?

It use to be one ( right eye) then for whatever reason 1CGS changed it to two (both eyes).

No bearing on performance as it is just a copy of what is in the headset.
